possible new tc owner, your input?
hopefully i get a better or at least more of a response here then yoursciontc.com
so im an old school vw guy, own an 84 gti never ending project and what was a daily driver 87 cabriolet... but admittedly there not always reliable...
so im at the point where i need myself a newer more reliable car
my price stipulations... around 10K$, 2005 or newer, 45K miles or less, manual, sunroof, non korean...
i quickly realized... scion tc was the only car i liked that matched all these stipulations...
im looking and most between 30 and 45K miles are about 12-14K$
local dealer has a silver 07 with 33K miles for 12,900$
which they say is a good price... idk what it was priced at before... but they got hit will a hail storm around 3 weeks ago and many of there cars have small dimple dents all over them... 12,900 is there "reduced hail storm damage"
looking online as already said... ones in the same condition and mileage are the same price... so im thinking tell them ill pay 10K or i walk...
good deal or no?
can anyone tell me pros or cons to owning a tc?

Well,
Pro:
It is a toyota so they are generally reliable
Pretty good gas mileage
pretty spacious for a 2 door
easy to mod
they look good
fun to drive (at least to me)
standard sunroof and moonroof
safety features
Cons:
Short gearing?
kind of cheap paint, they get paint chips easy
I don't have many cons since I love my tC.

im just gonna name a few things about pros and cons of a tc
-for starters tc's is a car you really have to love for itself. Keep in mind the tc has very unique design for its class and price.
- The car is really what you pay for but in my opinion you get alot for that price but at the same time you'll always want more if that makes sense? depends what type of person you are haha.
- Handling for a tc is not the best you can get out there. But its pretty reliable. If your planning on customizing your car i can definitely say that with sways, springs, spacers, etc you can pretty much handle like a bmw or better. In my opinion of course b/c i also have a bmw 325xi.
- The tc is really simple to customize and really easy to understand everything about the car.
- Depending on what your using the car for in my opinion i wish the car had more UMPH. Horsepower or just power in general. but thats only cus i always want more power lol.
-its pretty hard getting 10k for a tc. But if it works haha congrats.
and personally i love the tc. I really don't care what everyone else out there says cus its a fun car, simple, unique, and definitely fun car to work on. if you have any other specific questions lol just ask

short gearing, so it revs quick or long?
for having bad paint im surprised none of the hail put scratches on this one im looking at.
i really shouldnt but i know im going to be modding this...
my list will hopefully end at:
coils
powder coat stock wheels
dings out
roof rack
head and tail lights, nothing cheesy like halo's or led's just all reds, clear, or smoked... havent decided...
i love the look of a slammed car with a rack
as u can tell by this post... im pretty sold on these cars... just wanting to make sure there isnt some huge flaw im missing...
and wanting to know if 10K$ is a decent price... or am i asking too much and settle for what there asking?

do u really think 10K will be hard to get it for? remembering, lots of dimples all over the car. which i dont mind, i think i would probably make the car look nice but never fix the dimples, good story to tell.
oh and short gearing meaning if its a manual then you just switch gears fast. like the rpm and redline for a tc isn't that great. and you can def hear the engine needing to shift gears. but i really don't mind personally
short gearing sounds like a good thing to me... wouldnt that mean it gets up to highway speeds quickly?
but i suppose at the same time its harder to get up to higher speeds for they dont rev very high?
seeing how most tc's im seeing with the same mileage are the same price... because of the million dimples, i dont think i should be too hard pressed to get it for 10K, but just in case ill try 10K expecting to get it for 11K, maybe ill just end up getting a better financed apr...

yup economy sucks and there trying to get all there hail storm damaged cars off of the lot.
im sure the shifting wouldnt be much of an issue...
for the price the only other choices are korean cars, civics... which idk im just not feeling, and new vw's are just too common
i wish i could find an xb, but apparently they cost a little more...
i dont get why everyone seas u can easily customize these... im seeing less aftermarket parts for these then golfs and civics... seams like just because toyota put it in there commercials everyone beleaves it...
any problems with the warranty, im kinda worried about how a dealer will treat me if i want something done under warranty since i bought it at a private dealer

no there are a lot of parts out there for them, it is just that civics are more popular I think and vdubs have been around forever. There is a lot of stuff you can do to the tC you just have to look around
Well if it still has the factory warranty then the basic warranty is almost over, that ends at 36000. The powertrain ends at 5 years 60000 miles. Aftermarket parts wont void the warranty unless the dealer can prove that it caused the problem.
