possible new tc owner, your input?
Its a recession, its the best time to get a car. Work the dealers, get the lowest price you can or go to another one. Someone will bite, they need business. Be patient and dont settle for something that has hail dents all over it.
my friend just got and 06 tc with 30k miles on it for 12k......is first offer was 10k but they said no they said the 06 retails for 14k then the dealer said 13,5 they kept going back and fourth then my frienbd said 12k then he started to walk out then they said ok talk to the boss so he did so he wound of getting the car for 12k as far as i know if it was and 05 which theres no difference he might of been able to get away with 10k but since it was 06 and only 30k miles which to them is low which it is he got it hes very happy with it...
he got silver..stick with the spoiler

You might want to check with other insurance companies as well, you know just price shop as you do with cars. I find that if you find one that is significantly cheaper with the same coverages you currently have, if you are with a national brand then stick with a national brand since this works better, but take that quote in with your current policy to your local offer and kinda start to haggle with them as you do with a car you'll see them start to budge and start crunching the numbers. It is amazing, we've been insured with Allstate since the 80's and our previous car was a Dodge Stratus upon getting the tC we saw our rates sky rocket and when we did what I said they came back with even better coverage than we originally had, higher rental car reimbursement and lower deductibles with higher coverage limits for less than what we were paying when we had the 02' Stratus for a new tC. Not to mention we bought the tC used with 16k on it and they also gave us new car replacement for it as well as roadside, etc. It is definitely worth a shot if you really want the tC.
That being said most people like to stick with what they're used to and comfortable with so they take the rates the insurance company tells them but sometimes if you start to act like you want to leave even though you don't they may play the game as well and you'll get a better premium, I know it won't always work but it did in our case.
The tC isn't cheap to insure, stick around here and you'll see why but you can definitely thank the price point, parents that want to buy their child a reliable car, teenage girls, sub 21 population, cell phones and texting for that. It also doesn't help that it is amongst the most ticketed vehicles.

yea... im 20, no license, totalled 3 vehicles, this would be my 5th street legal car, and 3rd on insurance...
i dont think im in the right place to haggle with insurance... i have progressive, which everyone seas is the best...

Short version:
Pro:
feature-to-$ is high. Most of the features on this are non-standard on other cars in its class.
Toyota-backed techs
easy to mod/disassemble
high resale value (just look at the price of used tC's)
huge parts aftermarket
Cons:
paint is cheap sh$!
becomes a rattle trap after a year or so (hatch, glovebox, moonroof)
only a 3yr/36k warranty standard
currently only avail with 4spd auto or 5spd man (needs another gear on both)

get it, its a great car and you will love it In my opinion the best bang for your buck with all the standard features, specially the safety ones and sunroof. And also a decent stereo that goes loud enough to keep you from hearing the for mentioned rattles.lol...hopefully all goes good for your insurance so u can get it. good luck
the only way you would get bored of the tc if you drive or for years basically stock........modding cars for me makes me wanna drive it more..some people are like that others are not....il probably drive a stock car for a few weeks then gets bored after awile then start adding stuff then make driving more fun and so on
I dont know if anyone posted this or not didnt really read all of the posts, but I wouldnt recommend getting the dings taken out by paintless dent removal. Most of the time when they pry at the dents they do leave microcracks in the paint which may cause the paint to fail over time. Just letting you know that may be something to think about before pulling the trigger.
not bad. i got mine at 40k, with the spoiler and ground effects kit, manual, for $9,600. clean title and carfax. just a few small scratches and dings, which i didn't mind since cars are meant to get dings and scratches.
