Default Problem with

What's up guys I've got a 08 TC. I just put in some hid's, now I have a problem. My abs and brake lights are on. I also installed a cat back exhaust(but dont think that could be why). When I was installing the lights i was testing the connection, and got shocked by the wires coming out of the ballast ( as i had a bare wire did not touch the car but shocked my hand since it was in it dumb move i know). But just wondering if that could have had anything to do with it. Also how can i go about resetting the system and see if the lights go off. Any info is greatly appericiated

You know your suppose to unplug the negative side of the battery while installing electrical stuff right?

as for resetting i think you unplug the negative side of the battery for a bit then put it back and yea.

Did you actually turn the car on or just turn the key to the "on" position? Resetting the ECU should clear it up if you actually did something weird with that shocking yourself thing.

no, thats a test light but will work for this application if you have a good ground. a multimeter has a digital display that reads actual voltage etc along with continuity (used for fuse checking).

I'd check your owners manual to get you started in the right direction before you test every fuse in the car.

By brakes lights being on, do you mean your brake lights are always on now? Or that your Ebrake light is lit up on the dash constantly?

ok well all the fuses are good. Also the passenger window will not roll down with the drivers switch only the passenger one now. I wonder if this had to do with the arc of the wires or is this car a pos.

The car isn't a pos, you're just not reading enough before embarking on projects. When you unplug the battery, you need to reset the window switch by holding the passenger side up for at least 4 seconds. For the sunroof you hold the close button for at least 4 seconds.

If you disconnected your window you have to reinitialize all the windows you do this by.

on the driver's side control, push down (do not use 'one-touch' down) the power window switch for the driver's side window and lower the window halfway.

pull up (do not use 'one-touch' up) the power window switch until the window closes and hold the switch for a few seconds.

repeat these steps for the passenger side window on the passenger door window control. the windows should now open and close like they should.
