im with my girlfriend the other day cruising along down broadway in bangor maine......yeah i live in maine ouch........anyways, this guy in a focus with a chick in his passenger seat pulls up next to me at a light. he looks over at me smiles and revves his engine and looks over at his girlfriend and then back at me. So im like well if thats how he wants to play lets impress the chick next to me game........except for the fact when the light turned green i smoked him off the line by a car length haha...and then i realized it was 25 miles per hour speed limit ther and i was going 45 and cops always zip around on that road so i slowed it down...........but it was fun and i showed his punk focus whos boss.....man i love my tC

Bet the guy in the focus was like well yeahi just let him win right as he looked over at his girl and she seemed really unimpressed haha that what he gets

i never said it was a race and i slowed down cause i didnt want to get pulled over case there was a cop near buy 45 in a 25 is bad enough i didnt want to show that guy i could beat him all the way into the triple digits since that road is long cause a ticket isnt worth the satisfaction of showing hom where is focus belongs..........buy the way focus have like 140 hp so your stock xA or xB might get left behind that focus just to let you know

 

REALLY?? I guess thats why I see little wannabe-ricer focus' running 17's and 18's at the track.

Trust me, I know how to drive stick better than the average 18 year old, and I know how and when to race too.

If you wanted to flex power on a focus in a 25mph zone, Just let him get the ticket, and drive casual. Be the bigger man about it, instead of racing a car that has nothing on you're 160hp..

You've got to be kidding me. Either you were racing a LX sedan(100hp split port injection) or someone who just can't drive. I've driven the xB. It's slow!

Because I don't know if you've ever heard of power/weight ratio or what makes or breaks a good race is the driver...?

You're forgeting, that my car MAY be underpowered by like 40hp to the wheels, BUT my car makes up for being about 500-600lbs lighter than you car, PLUS having me for a driver makes EVERY difference..

So, yea..You wanna pretend u know ____, and know how to race. Bring your texan ___ out to california...

We may not be able to carry a gun on us in the street, but we know how to drive...

I dont have a tC yet. I have a Focus. You can be a good driver. You're car can weigh less. But one thing you have to realize is that you lack torque. Tq gets you off the line, not hp. Also, the xB has the drag coeffecient of a brick. I'm sorry but your skills against an avg driver = you lose.

and btw, just because u have close to 1.8% more lbs of torque than u do hp, doesn't make your car a FERRARI compared to me having just 3.7%less lbs of torque than my hp.

Dude... I drive a Focus ZX3 and would rip your doors off with no engine in my car. And don't think just because it's not an SVT means it doesn't have *****. There are MANY ZX3's with regular old Zetecs out there that will smoke the SVT and more. Yeah, the driver has a lot to do with the car, but come on now. A Focus with an intake and exhaust can take any xB. Damn. I don't know how many HP the Blitz SC kicks in but that might just put it neck and neck.

I LOVE THE tC as well as I love the Focus. I ordered a tC in fact, but financial issues have post-poned a purchase for a little while. So don't think I'm just a Foci hugger. Give the Ford some respect. It might not be the 'quality' your Toyota's rebadged are, but they've definitely got ***** under the hood. Oh... And lastly... The first post for a tC 'smoking' a Focus. Let me have a chance at you. ;) My $6500 ZX3 + about $1200 in performance mods. We'll see who does the smoking.

 

haha, I can't tell you how many Focus' I've seen run at my local track. They all have they're intakes, exhausts, body kits, and wheels, but HEY. The only Focus' I've seen that ran anything below a 16sec pass, was a few SVT's and this one Focus the guy dropped in a 5.0 and converted it to RWD and added LSD and everthing..

But trust me, ANY focus besides the SVT and that 5.0 focus are barely competition to a STOCK 5spd xB. It would probably be dead even if the xB were an AT. But hey.

Focus' are tight in they're own right like Scions are, I gotta hand it to you, but they are GUTLESS when it comes to making a pass on the 1/4.

I cannot tell you how many I've seen at my track, AT least 30 over the past 2 or so years...

I'm not asking for a fight anyone.

i have an atx focus. it's my autocross _____.

yes i've driven a 5spd xB. it wasn't fun at all. it had no get up and go. i can't believe you think that your box is less affected aerodynamically than my focus. do you understand that you're car has more surface area than my car does? even at stock ride height, a focus is shorter than the xB. now get to my car, there is just no comparison. i have coilovers set at about a 2.5" drop. is it bumpy? no. does it ride rough? hell yeah! dont start talking to me about aerodynamics. you'll lose that battle too. when your box pulls 0.98g on a skidpad, then we'll talk.

 

Here's some non-svt guys on my race team that run at least 14s:
All motor and runs mid 14s.
Turbo runnin13.3. Soon to be 12s

and since you love svt's so much:
Runs low 14s. When it gets back from tuning, he'll be in the low 12s

unlike you, i can back all these up with time slips....where are yours?

And u know what I can really give a ____ about my box-shape. I didn't see you buying you're first new car at the age of 18. Nearly half the americans get they're FIRST NEW car in they're mid 20's and they're usually given a POS pickup as a first car, or they're parents buy them a car.

My parents could have VERY well bought my car for me, but they did not assist me in that area at all, I insisted!

I gave a down payment of $3200, I make all of my monthly payments on my own, all of my insurance payments on my own.

I'm just damn glad I have such a cool, fun car for a first car.

Granted this isn't literally my FIRST car, but I did buy my actual FIRST car with my own money, and nothing but cash. ;)

I'm sorry for getting in a tantrum about this whole xB vs. tC vs. Focus issue...but I mean c'mon, some people have a quicker car than others EVEN if it is considered 'underpowered'.

Which reminds me^. The last dyno pull of mine was 118.3hp and 119.0lbs of tq at the wheels. Now I just saw somewhere here on the boards a stock tC puts down 130hp to the wheels and like 140lbs of tq. I'm just shy of 10hp and 20lbs of tq. c'mon now, you don't call that competition?? haha jk

I have about 11time slips for my car. If I had a scanner or a camera that actually took a good picture of the slips, TRUST me I would post them.

But if you actually lived in sacramento, and visited the raceway there every weds. night. and asked somebody about Scions, they would point out my car in the crowd. The little lunch box with dots..

I couldn't tell you how many people witnessed my 15.98 pass and my 16flat runs.

But when I do get my scanner in a few weeks or so, I will post my slips in every forum, that way, no matter where u are, you will find them.
