punk in a focus...vs. me
thats great and all man. congrats on being able to accomplish that. my parents bought my focus when i was 19. im 23 and buying my tC. it's good stuff. just keep moddin and you'll be alright. as far as those tc dyno numbers, their shop is a mile high. i think the car was starving for air.
ps - ur runnin the same whp as i am and i've got a ____ load of mods. i still need a chip and more dyno time to tune my cams. i'm running 11.5:1 afr. it's so rich that if i roll with my windows down, i'd start to smell like gas. other foci with my mods and the proper tuning are at 140hp, 150ish tq.

Thats crazy man about your Focus, i wish I could somehow get cams for my box. For now, I'll keep waiting.
Well, the mods I have done to my car wasn't done by just me. Granted I installed most of my parts and all. But after each part I had installed (except for my exhaust and intake, which were my first two bolt-ons), my local shop helped tune my car, such as playing with my engine's computer dropping in new injectors, spark plugs, and screwing around with my compression and such, dramatically helped these bolt-ons become actual performance modifications. Regularly with the bolt-ons only, no tuning or fiddling with anything else on the car, I would only be up 15hp from the baseline run. With they're added tuning and, playing with adjustments, they got me another 7-8hp. And definately made a difference in the feel of driving the car versus driving it with no tuning or finer adjustments.
haha, once again man, I'm sorry about bragging or whatever, and calling everyone and they're mother out. But truely and honestly, my xB is one of the quicker Naturally Aspirated xB's out there.
Alright man, I'm gonna try and be off to bed.
take care.
Goodnight

yeah tuning is the key. unforatunately i wont be doing it in the focus anymore. soon as i get it back from the shop(i killed my tranny) i'm parting it out then selling it.
here's my dyno:

you can see my power go down as my afr goes down. if i had a chip i'd be running 13:1afr and picking up more in the top end. also, this was on a cracked header. just by adjusting the exhaust cam -6 degrees, i picked up over 12% hp and tq. i never touched the intake cam because i ran out of time and money.

got smoked by a 92 souped up prelude....
going down local highway 72... out of the movies...
he pulled out first waited for me... and then we gunned it about a mile till my exit...
Only going 95... i think he was like 110+... but i had to exit so... ehh slowed down to my 15 mph exit ramp.... i always wanted a prelude

^^^Yeah, thanks bro!
I believe it was 80 out side, and some kid in a little 20sec crx decided to do a lil' burnout before his blazing run, and ended up just leaving water down the first 30feet of the track. Despite the lil' wet condition, I decided I'd dump the pressure in my front tires. That ended up helping alot.
I ran a few times prior that night running like 16.1's and a couple 16flats, but I was feeling the track being a little slippery from the r/t light to the 60' light. Most of the cars that night couldn't catch traction that whole area, except for the V8's with 11" wide slicks ;)
Alright late man.

Cool, cool...But hey bro, sorry, not trying to be mean or an ___ or anything. But, a Street class Christmas Tree light, has a perfect reaction time of 0.500. My reaction time that night was better than 85-90% of the other racers out there :p
Good luck with that.

the tree at our track is led . it is the las vegas speedway. a very very pro track . the drag strip is the same thats used in the same finals for all the pro events. i dont know maybe since its that it could be different .. but i do remember the slip saying .300 for sure
Oh, I understand, a Christmas tree is a christmas tree, Led or not. It can be set to a .400 r/t or a .500 r/t. For top fuels and alcohol cars (pretty much anything faster than a 8flat) uses the .400 setting.
The PERFECT reaction time on a regular run, with a 13sec car or whatever, would be .500.
.500 is the time it takes for the light to go from the last amber light to the green light. Therefore it is impossible to run anything faster than a .500 eitherwise u would run a red.
I gave u a link on my last post, go check it out :D

A Focus with an intake and exhaust can take any xB. Damn. I don't know how many HP the Blitz SC kicks in but that might just put it neck and neck.
I LOVE THE tC as well as I love the Focus. I ordered a tC in fact, but financial issues have post-poned a purchase for a little while. So don't think I'm just a Foci hugger. Give the Ford some respect. It might not be the 'quality' your Toyota's rebadged are, but they've definitely got ***** under the hood. Oh... And lastly... The first post for a tC 'smoking' a Focus. Let me have a chance at you. ;) My $6500 ZX3 + about $1200 in performance mods. We'll see who does the smoking.

Thank you for the comment that toyota is quality.

I agree that xB's are a tad slow, 108hp, what do you expect?
numbers don't mean ____, shut me up and post a pix please...of YOUR car doing it. Not someone on your race team.

Ok, now its time for my lack of knowledge/ignorance to kick in and for you guys to fill me in....
First off, can someone please explain to me exactly what a skidpad is and whats its purpose?
Second, I've only driven manual tranny...For the most part I drive an exquisite stick and shift quick and tight, i dont slip and i dont leave the clutch in to long. Whatd id like to get
better at is starting from a stop,
Whats a recommendable way to get a good start from at the track?
..In a "street" scenario?
Ive heard off all this rev to 4K then "pop" the clutch, but ive heard this is bad for the clutch...?
Thanks, Ibiza

I'm not going to argue with you. I backed up everything I said. I even posted my ____ty dyno and explained why I was getting the power I did. I may not know everything about tuning but I can hold my own in the Focus crowd. There are alwasy new things to learn. In case you didn't read it, here is my explanation for why my car is running the way it is. I needed a chip and more dyno time to finish my tuning. If you look at my dyno, you can see a 12% increase in power from my base pull to my final pull. In an effort to learn more about tuning, I'm talking to Superchips Custom Tuning and becoming a licensed dealer for them with a guy in my club and we're buying their Focus line of tuning software. Tuning takes time and money. Both of which I choose not to put into my Focus since I'm selling it soon. If I had pics of me running down the 1/4, believe me, I would post them but my car isn't set up for drag. It's set up for turns. I've got almost as much money put into my suspension as I do engine mods so here is a pic of me doing my thing at the autocross.

Those are last seasons pics when i was running progress springs, koni adjustables, and every single polyurethane bushing energey suspension makes.
here's my new suspension i ran this season(will try to find pics tonight):
replaced progress springs and konis with fk coilovers. added eibach front and rear swaybars with new bushings.

my friend jason being a dumbass. thats his blue zx3 btw. the ___ flames are gone now. so is my dumb roll call.

There is a Focus that would smoke a TC, and I mean slaughter & butcher it...
Ford Focus RS8
That model almost beat a Lambo...lost by 0.3 seconds...
But anyone other focus, SUCKS!

The guy wanted to brag a little. Don't like it? Then go to the xB forum, and don't flame up this forum. And I hate to bring this up, but the numbers you see from magazines like C&D aren't numbers most people are going to obtain, regardless of driving skill -- they pay no heed to whether it's good for the car or not.
Regardless of how aerodynamic you think your car is, it does have a VERY high drag coefficient. You do not have an aerodynamic car. It will be far more susceptible to crosswinds than his tC or my eclipse. Am I making fun of your car? No. xB's aren't my cup of tea, but if you like 'em, more power to you. But don't try to pass it off as an aerodynamic wonder -- it's a box.
Moral of the story? Don't flame.
To the person who asked what a skidpad is:
A skidpad is basically a fairly small circular track. You drive as fast as you can around it, and the number of lateral G's are measured to calculate how fast the car is turning. RWD cars tend to fare better, since they usually will oversteer, which a skilled driver can control easily. FWD cars tend to understeer(or plow), and it's pretty rare to see over about .98G's out of a FWD car(ITR is a big exception, it handles as well as most higher end RWD sportscars)
