my tc got wrecked a couple weeks back.-a utility pole fell on it. i financed it, so i still have alot to pay(i only made 8 payments in total). i didn't get the gap insurane, which is screwing me right now. the insurance company is sending toyota a check, but it's not going to cover what i owe for the car. anyone know what my options are right now? i don't have the money to cover what i owe toyota sitting around, but i'd like to get another tc soon. if i go thru a lawsuit with the utility company, i'll end up with money, but that could take a couple of years. i'm just trying to figure out what the best way to go about getting another tc right now. would toyota let me tack on the difference that i owe them to the new car and finance the whole thing? anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
How much money are you getting back from the insurance company? Assuming your car was totalled, and you already made 8 payments on it, I can't see how the insurance company isn't paying the full cost of what you have left to pay, or atleast the cost of another tc. Even USED ones sell for about as much as a new one.

insurance is only giving me back like $11K on the car becaus of the mileage on it. even though i made 8 payments on the car, that's not alot because i was paying interest on the financing. insurance just pays u the value of the car. not what u paid for it, and with depreciation on the car, they're screwing me right up the a$$. this just sux. i placed an order for a new tc already, but i'm waiting to hear back from toyota on what i can do about the money left on the financing.
11k is bullpoop. You need to ask your insurance where they got a quote from to replace your tc for only 11k. If they came to that price, ask them how. Don't let your insurance company stick it to you.
what dslrdavce said. no way you should only get 11k back. how much mileage you got? can't have more than like 12-15k? even at that you get at least 14k at the low end. what kind of options you got? go back to you insurance company. this is exactly why they all have the tallest and biggest buildings.
you might get in contact with the utility company and talk to someone and have them buy you a new car. quick easy way and i think that they would settle for that. But if you want more money than go to court and your going to have to wait a long itme.

yep-the insurance company is screwing me. i'm also going to file a claim with the utility company(LIPA), but even a claim is going to take at the minimum a month or two. if i can have the difference that i owe toyota added to the new tc, then i think that's what i'm going to do. i still have stuff from my tc which i could put back in, and the stuff i didn't have a chance to take out of the wrecked one i have receipts for. hopefully LIPA will cover me for that stuff on top of the car since i'm not at fault. i just picked up the police report today and it's listed as a property damage case. the report states that a "utility pole fell across the street and struck" my car. therefore, LIPA is totally at fault, which should make the claims process pretty easy.
