Default putting performance parts on new TC

i have had my 09 tc for about a month now. i love it already have 2700 miles on the car. i want to start modding soon, but not sure if i can only go the trd route or if i put an aftermarket part on the dealer will tell me to pound sand. i want to keep the factory warranty that’s why i bought the car brand new. but it seems the trd stuff is way overpriced and not as good as some of the other stuff out there. what do u guys think?

you will not use the warranty on the car... but whatever you install thats not under warranty anymore..

like.. if you get intake from injen and you install it but the clutch get messed up it will be covered.. but if your engine gets messed up because the intake than you are in trouble...
so dont be scared when toyota tells you that you will use the warranty if you change anything... its not true! you only loose the warranty on the aftermarket parts plus if they can relate any problem to the aftermarket part then its not covered.

with the intake the only problem is the hydrolock..

well even if you buy a TRD intake it doesn't matter. the dealer has to install it to fully keep the warranty. same with TRD springs. you can buy them, but if you don't have proof of install from a dealer, your warranty is screwed ragardless.

Go with TRD struts but you can pretty much go with eibach, teins, h&r's..They are all pretty much the same quality wise. Just depending on how much of a drop you are looking for (suspension wise). But you shouldn't get all caught up on your warranty issues. When I purchased my IS300 i thought the same thing. That I didn't want to put on regular ____ because of the warranty, etc. But after you realize that you don't really go to the dealer (often) due to problems, then you just start going on and on with mods. Just get boost already. ^_^

i dont think thats true cause when i bought the car i asked the same question and they said it does not matter if u do it or not as long as its a trd product. At least that’s what they said.!!!!

by the way guys thanks for all the feedback. i think i will probably just go with trd on the lowering springs, but i would rather go with another brand that lowers the car more then a 1.25".

pretty much no matter what springs you put onthe car they will not cover the struts or springs as they are a wearable item and as such not gonna get covered......just like brakes......wearable and not gonna be covered.

Mod away......just use quality parts and use your head.

warranty:

on the product : if you get good names ( hotchkis, tein. etc) then your product will be warranted by the company who made the product.

warranty on the install... if you install it for yourself you can save lots of $$$$$!!!! but if you messed up something then its not under warranty. doesnt matter if its trd or aftermarket: u get your exhaust installed by your friend and after a week you hear a noise.. you cant go to toyota to get it fixed under warranty because they didnt install it. if you take your aftermarket exhaust to the toyota and they install it then you go back because they didnt install it correctly then they will fix it...

if something happens and its related to the aftermarket product then they it will be not under warranty ( hydrolocking the engine because you get injen, aem, k&n etc cold air intakes.. or you got some super race brake pads and you cant stop and you have an accident.. its not a toyota product.. not installed by toyota it wont be covered by toyota.

^agreed. that's what i was saying. they have to be the ones to install it. they won't warranty it if you do it and something goes wrong
