Question Question About My Steering Wheel Functions

Alright, first of all. Im new to this forum. I found out about this forum from Club-tc. It's pretty much dead over there all the time..so not much support.

I was wondering if i could get some help here; the buttons on my steering wheel don't work. Not even the horn. Now i THINK i need to buy the horns because this car was crashed when i bought it. I will be posting the rebuilding thread pretty soon here

Info: 2006 Scion tC Automatic.

i would like to help.. if i was able to actually inspect the car.

i suspect the wiring is the problem, but there's really no way to be 100% unless i see the car. i don't think you need to buy new horns.. wiring problems could be the cause of that too.

There is a yellow cable where the knee airbags goes. Could it be because that is disconnected? I have no knee airbags and no passenger airbag.

Edit: btw i know its an airbag cable because its a pretty thick cable. Just dont know if its the knee airbag cable or the steering wheel cable. and if it may have something to do with it or not.

Instead of paying this could be one of those priceless opportunities to learn how to do it yourself. But only if your a patient person of course.

disconnect battery
disassemble the steering wheel by first loosening 2 T-30 torx screws on each side of the steering wheel.

pull out the airbag.

inspect wiring behind airbag.
