Question about shipping charges on parts orders
I have been looking at the way we figure our shipping charges on Scion items .
My question is would you rather have the shipping charge included in the price upfront which will raise the price of the item a little but you will be able to see the total price upfront no hidden shipping charge or have it added in when you are checking out at the end of the transaction . ?? Just trying to build a better site and keep the prices down as best we can. I figured who better to ask than the ones that use it. . :?:

From a consumer standpoint, knowing the bottom line price right away is great. From a business standpoint, you risk losing business because of ignorant people not realizing it's the final price. Plus, many don't even look at the shipping prices. As long as they are reasonable, I have no problem paying it. It's really a standpoint issue. If you advertise "bottom line pricing" and make sure visitors know that your prices include shipping, then I believe it could work to your advantage.

I certainly do like it when I can compare final prices easily without the hassle of going all the way into the checkout process, so it'd definitely be nice to see shipping prices right there on the page. Very good bonus points. However, for those ignorant people who will jump on a deal that says $99.99 versus one that says $100, I think you should make sure the main focus is on the part price, with shipping being there for reference.
I like the posting of both prices, as well as a statement of how stuff is shipped (48 hours, UPS, FedEx Ground, USPS, etc.). On ebay, there is a final price, or a "Buy It Now" price and then a shipping price. Most of the time, when I see a shipping price that is unrealistic, or padded, I walk away. I can understand padding a shipping price so that it averages out for shipments 100 miles away and 2,000 miles away, but if it is already boxed and just has to have a mailing label slapped on it before the next UPS pick-up is made, I won't deal with someone that adds $15 to $20 for handling.
The same holds true when I walk on a dealer's lot and they have added hundreds of dollars for "Paint Protection". I immediately walk away.
I guess what I'm saying is that while I do make a decision based on the final price, how it's arrived at tells me a lot about whether or not I do business with someone.

I'd leave the price without shipping in the menu that appears when you click the + next to a category and then post separately the shipping charge in the complete discription of the item that displays when you click on it. This way it doesn't look like the price is more expensive than it really is because the shipping charge is factored in and I also don't have to go through the hassle of clicking all the way through the checkout process to find out how much I'm going to have to spend total.
By the way, I ordered 3 TRD-USA oil filters from you guys about a month and a half ago and you sent me 3 of the more expensive TRD-Japanese filters because the USAs were out of stock. Thanks - I really appreciate it and will most definitely be ordering from you again.
