Default Question about tinting and auto-dimming mirror.

So I'm officially part of the "Tc Waiting Group" and plan on having my beautiful black sand pearl manual in 6-8 weeks.

Anyways, I planned on getting the auto-dimming mirror, and later want to do some tinting. I've read quite a few people saying "If you get tinting you don't need the mirror". Now the question I have for all of you; would the two interfere? If I got the mirror and tinting would it make it too difficult to drive at night? I'd much rather get the tinting and If I have to chose I'd like to call the dealership and cancel that mirror ASAP.

Depends if the light going through the tinting would make the mirrior auto-dim or not. If so, yes, you would not be able to make anything out looking into it. I have a broadway mirror and unless theres streetlights or headlights, I can't see crap out of my 20% tinted rear windshield.

Here's another question then, Is it possible to shut the auto-dimming feature off? I'd really like to have the lamps and Homelink, but the tinting's a lot more important to me.

If you get the auto dimming mirror, you can't affix a broadway mirror unto it, it's too large. I'd rather have a broadway mirror and stick with the stock map lights and have a garage door opener in the area near the shifter.

With my broadway mirror, I can see out of the whole rear windshield, and even the 2 rear side windows.

I know that didnt really answer your question, but I don't have the auto dimming mirror

I have the auto-dimming mirror and i think its one of the best option to get for your car you get the homelink garage door opener, a map light that changes color, and the auto dimming function that you can turn on or off. Hoped that helped your question.

I have tint and the auto-dimming mirror. I'm not sure what percentage I have on the back hatch, just whatever is legal in Oklahoma. Anyway, I find that the mirror doesn't dim as often anymore, but it still does dim when a big truck or someone with really bright lights comes up behind me. I've turned it off to test whether just the tinting on the hatch was enough, and its wasn't. In my experience, the dimming mirror still comes in handy even with dark tint on the hatch.

Update: Its 25%

Nobody needs that. It's a whistle. But a handy one if you do not like to flip your mirror into day and night setting manualy...
And to all the poeple with tint: just be careful, it looks great but you cannot see s..t after dark or when it rains. Do not put too much or simple task of parallel parking will be too much.... I had tint on all of my cars before TC but now I am really hesitating....

Nopes no compass on the auto-dimming mirror offered through Scion.I wished it came with one. Gentex does make the exact same auto-dimming mirror with the same function, but with what looks to be like a compass on the mirror.

Check out the Map Lamp Mirror:

I have the autodimming mirror with homelink and 35% tint on the sides, but 30% on the rear. I had the same question for my tining place, they had no clue... thing still works perfectly with the tint. I say go for it, I like the mirror a lot
