Default Question for the tC owners....

hey guys i'm trying to save up for a NBM tC and i was wondering what type of jobs the other tC owners have... main point in this is to find out how many ppl have successfully made payments and such with the same job situation as me.

^^ That job might depend HEAVILY on what kind of restaurant and what you're pulling down in a week/month.

the more you can put down the easier it will be to make payments later. i just saved up enough so that i could have payments under 250 a month without paying for the car forever.

oh yeah im an engineer too.

its a homestyle type of place, anyone in the Dallas area or possibly the whole Tx area might know it. The place is "Black Eyed Pea" and I start on Monday. I've been eyeing a NBM tC for almost a year now and haven't been able to make payments. I'm estimating possibly $300+/- a week. considering my gf works on weekends only and averages roughly $200. but the clientel is a big difference between her restaurant and mine. I'm just really hoping that this job will allow me to finally get the car.

keep the responses comin.

And as Ack said.... it definetely depends where you wait, and how good you are at doing it.

work out a budget that includes your monthly nut (all recurring monthly expenses)and see if there are the costs associated with a car left over (payment, insurance, gas maintenance, etc).

Aerospace Engineer here...

Just use some self control when making your purchase (like I did NOT) and you'll come out with a reasonably priced car with decent payments. My advice is to out how much your monthly payment will be (use an online calculator). Then, each month make that payment, but into your savings account. Do this for six months or however long you need to feel comfortable with it. If there's even one month you couldn't make it, then don't buy the car. If it goes well, you can buy the car with the confidence knowing you can afford it (don't forget insurance costs) and you'll have a ncie down payment saved.

Just a thought. Hope you can get it!

i went and visited Jeff over at Sport City, and he gave me the price +TTL and at 18,400 with a 5yr period, i'm looking at $307 without DP. With the DP from my truck it's $250. Insurance being $155 monthly. so about $410 monthly for the car, then with gas....i'm guessing like at least $550 monthly total.
But again like Ack said, it depends heavily on the clientel and such.

Around 30hrs a week working retail, but trading in my car helped bring down the payments, as well was financing through a credit union.

Currently a "Senior Technologist" (computer science field) for Hitachi Data Systems. Paid cash for the car, so no payments here.

Make sure you plan for unexpected things. Like if a tire blows out. A 150+ for an exact replacement can really take a hit out of your monthly allowance. Even cheaper tires aren't that cheap.

I work in retail doing in home PC repair and support (Geek Squad). I was over paying for my last car so I just did what I had to to make my payments lower than what they were before. I could afford the previous car, so lowering just made it easier.

Advice... put as much as you can down to lower the payment and hope for a good interest rate...
