Ran Over Curb - Repaired - Did Not Report to Insurance - Q?
So I feel like and idiot and you would probably think so too...
So last week I ran over a curb and messed up all 4 of my tires and rims, air bags went off, driver's only.
So I got new tires and wheels.
Yesterday I had new airbags installed.
But the airbags aren't connected because I needed a new module or something and a couple other connectors and that would have cost another $1000.
So everything looks okay, but the airbag light is on because they aren't actually working.
Problem is, I am spending a whole lot of money.
I wanted to get this resolved right away and I was afraid it might affect my insurance negataively if I reported it, so I haven't.
Do you think there is anyway I would be able to still report it and show them the receipt for the repairs and get reimbursed somehow?
Also since my airbags aren't technically working, would they not allow me to drive it during the inspection period?
Thank you eveyone for your help!

I think you're already to late in the game to report it to your insurance company. Normally they send agents to check out the car before its fixed so when you have problems after the fix they know what it was before it was fixed. Just for liability sake.
So since you already started the route of fixing it yourself then you might want to keep on that route. Most insurance compaines might not consider your claim since you fixed it yourself.
Althought It never hurts to try your luck in filling your claim just know that you might end up going no where with it and the claim will remain in your records.
Be wise..

Yeah, I was afraid I would call and get nothing, but it would still go on my record.
I guess you're right.
Damn tC is lucky I love it because I am spending a lot for this one stupid incident.

^No a salvage title is only when insurance/DMV gets the info. But even then its still repairable so it wouldnt go as salvage.
You should give it a try anyways. Call them and try. Maybe theyll cover half of it or sumtin

OP, I would contact your insurance company and see if what they tell you. They SHOULD fix it because you are covered for accidents like this, BUT there is a good chance they won't fix it because you've already began the repair process prior to them looking at the vehicle.
give them a call........an accident is not on your record till you sign the papers to have them inspect............explaine that you started to make the repair after the accident not knowing you should report a claim in a single car accident,be creative use some white lies if needed, they may indeed agree to cover the rest.........if not then you have to finish what you started.

Im curious as to why you didnt report it to begin with? were you under the influence of a substance/alcohol?
I dont see why you wouldt report that. you could have just said that you got ran off the road and it all happened so fast that you didnt see the plate but gave them a vague description of a make and model.
