Rear Wheel Drive vs Front Wheel Drive

i'm not sure if this has to do with anything relating to the topic. i sort of understanding most of it but sometimes i'm still a little confused. ok, here goes...

fwd: you gas, turn with front wheels.
rwd: you gas with rear, turn with front.

anyone knowledgeable about this?

as far as i can understand... (given same car but fwd and rwd; meaning same whp, same suspension setup.. etc. i know i can't compare it like this...) handling most have to do with shifting the weight of the car. taking the fastest turn in autox or track requires the turn-in angle, how late you break, how balanced with gas in the turn, and most important... transfer the weight of the car to a point almost loss traction but still gripping onto the road? no?

Not to beat the topic any more but basically
FWD is better for daily driving
RWD is better for "sport" driving

Another reason RWD is good for racing that I didn't notice anyone bringing up yet is the fact that it is just much easier to work on. Your power train runs the length of your entire car. In a FWD car every bit of the power train is crammed under the hood.

My boyfriend just got a GTO. One of the nice things about RWD is that a little extra gas helps turn the car when you're exiting a turn. His car just flat takes off coming out of turns, where the tC will push until you backoff the gas just like any other FWD car.

And with the traction control off, you car have lots of fun!

Any RWD car I've driven absolutely sucks in bad weather. The worst are Camaros/Firebirds (same chassis), Mustangs and especially any RWD truck. Biggest problem is no weight on the rear wheels, that's why people load up on firewood in the back of their trucks when it snows.

FWD cars have hugh problems with torgue steer where under high acceleration the wheel wants to jump from your hands. This is why it's very hard to find cars in the 300+hp range (not saying they don't exist, just rare).

Under 300hp, any weather - FWD
Over 300hp, sunny day - RWD
Any hp, any weather - AWD
