I just picked up a used tC key off of Ebay. Someone from a local tC club told me that I would be able to reprogram the key and have the dealer cut new metal. Has anyone done this yet, and how do I reprogram and how much do you think it will cost to have the key recut? They Ebayer offers money back so if this is not possible to do, nothing lost on my behalf except a few $'s for shipping...

uhh... well, with a precut key, you already have the grooves cut, so no good. and reprogramming will cost you about an hour labor. is it the remote key?

So programming can't be self-done? I've seen plenty of auctions for the keys that say that programming instructions will be included

As far as recutting goes - that was something I heard from a local guy - that the key blank can be swapped out and you can replace it with a new one and get that cut.

you can program the key yourself I know that but I don't know the procedure off hand. As for the metal part you would have to ask the dealer
