Do you actually want the security system? Car alarms are so useless. You can just get a remote starter on its own, installed for about $200.

I wanted to get one for my girlfriend's car but she has a stick...

my friend has a stick eclipse and he still had a remote start installed. personally imo, if you get an alarm make sure its a 2 way or else its kinda useless. when it comes down to it, as long you pay a good enough price (i say at 260 for a decent remote start system) most of the alarms do the same thing no matter what brand they are. i got mine for 260 (it was a hookup). it has a remote start, alarm, 2 way pager, etc. brands dont really matter imo, as long as its a fair price, and you know its good quality, go for it. the guy who installed it says that compustar is overarated, and its just a name with alot of features you can get for cheaper elsewhere. hope this helps

i have a prestige 2 way paging alarm with remote start on my tC.. i got it with installation for 550.. i love it.. always fun to trip out the older folk when my car starts b4 i even open the door =) and the security system is pretty nice.. a kick of the tire chirps it and a hard pull on the door handle sets it off.. but realistically.. a flashing blue light inside your car does the trick lol...

my buddy has a 1999 prelude with 10k worth of engine work done to it and b/c its a JDM swap the wiring didnt match up for the alarm so all he has is a flashing blue light.. noones tested it.. yet =p

directed is good, they make phython, viper and clifford alarms. had a two way pager viper on my old car, loved it. costed about $400 installed. i bought the alarm online for less than $200 when it retailed for like $400 in store, then brought it to a local shop to get installed for another $200.

I wanted to get a remote starter for my girlfriend for Christmas. I went to two places, both told me West Virginia law forbids remote starters in cars with manual trannys. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is a state by state thing.
