Default Roadtrip!

So I'm heading on a roadtrip up to pennsylvania this weekend. It's my first with my tC and I was wondering if anyone else has been on long trips with theirs. Any concerns or issues to keep an eye out for? Anyone know any hot spots along the way to be watchful of speeding (cop hiding spots)? I believe I'll be taking I80 most of the way there.

Can't tell you much about that part of the country, but I just took a road trip in a tC over the weekend. Unmodified, they're smooth and comfortable and with all the cupholders and storage, they make great road trippers. My wife went with me so we folded down the left side of the back seat for storage, reclined the right side and dropped the front passenger seat so that we could take turns using the famous tC Lazy Boy. Just remember that when you sit in the tC Lazy Boy, a small travel pillow for your neck makes all the difference in the world. Have a great trip!

BTW - I don't know about PA, but a Texas State Trooper stopped me for 74 in a 60 on my way to Dallas. He looked at the tC, leaned in the window, glanced at the panoramic moonroof and said "This is a sharp lookin' car!" Then he gave me a ticket. Oh, well.

Ive gone to MD and back and nashville and back. Had zero probs and im lowered. it rode great! although the last trip may have ended the life in my rear stock shocks. So on my way home i stopped at ZPI to pick up some tein SS coilovers.

Overall the tC is a great roadtripper. after all tC does stand for Touring Coupe!

Never been to that side of the country, however if its anything like most of the long highways here, I'd recommend a frontend mask so no rock chips and crap can potentially damage ur ride.

agreed, but i usually tape up my hood,fenders,a-pillar,mirrors
may look weird to some drivin down the highway, but saves the paint!

the roads here in MD, aren't bad, but up in PA,WV,etc. they are HORRIBLE

the mask leaves marks, if left on tooooo long
the 3M tape goes on easier, and comes off clean

^^^^

Or a clear bra like what RockBlocker sells at http://www.rockblocker.net

Probably too late to get it and have it installed for your trip but it's worked great for me and my xB.

Have a safe and fun trip.

And, for anyone in the AZ / SoCal area.... check out the San Diego / LA / AZ to Las Vegas run we're organizing for this Auguest. Gonna be a BIG one.

welp I90 is the turnpike thru ohio, very nice roads, and you dont have to worry too much about the coppers, speeds avg 70-75 and most the time they dont seem to care....that doesnt go for most ohio cops tho.

*edit* dont forget to check your oil, air press. & fuilds before you hit the raod!

i would be careful through Ohio, i have heard from friends that went to school there that the cops love pulling people over, so watch your speed. good thing about tickets in other states though is you don't get points on your license.

Oooh. I didn't know that. That makes me feel better. Already had one 4 hour class this year as is... I'm usually pretty observant/paranoid when driving and can spot coppers pretty quickly. I just want to make sure its nothing stupid like having to drive all the way back there for court or something.

I'm heading up to kingston (eastern PA). And unfortunately the hood and pretty much everywhere there are little chips and scratches from the multitude of moron drivers around my area. So there's no reason to even bother with a bra now. Only one of the scratches did I actually do myself. Really ____es me off when I go wash my car and find three new scratches every time. "Buncha damned savages in this town..." No one lets me have nice things. (grumble)

I have driven mine back and forth to Oklahoma from Minneapolis (about 650 miles each way) approx 7 times, 4 times after the TRD springs. Does great every time!

I think you would have to be really close to the semi to draft them and get better milage, if you are following at a safe distance, in my experience, you are just getting thrown around by the crazy turbulence coming from them and getting more rocks and road debris thrown your way from their tires.

Moving this to the regional forums would help since you'd find a lot more poeple from the area.

wax your car twice. rainx your windows. check your tire pressure. make sure your spare tire is filled up also. check all your fluids...you should be good to go.
PA's highways are pretty cool, they are made smart, with phones every mile and pull off zones. also, they have pull off areas for trucks, built into the side of hills, incase a truck loses it's brakes, it will go up the hill and hopefully stop.
tunnels are sweet and spooky.
the highways are crazy though, some parts can really be whiteknuckle driving...fun stuff, but sometimes scary when trucks pass you at fast speeds.
watch out for cops, they are sneaky.
i went from cleveland to pittsburg, to monroeville, then to harrisburg and hershey and back last year. i'd like to go again
