I do agree that the front grill for a vehicle should not be roughly 7% of the entire vehicle value. If I bought one I would have to take out a rider policy on my car insurance. I wonder if Progressive insures a super expensive aftermarket grill?

This just emphasizes the need for an aftermarket company to reproduce the stock tC honeycomb grill without the scion emblem on the front. If someone starts reproducing the tC RS1 grill, and sells it for say $300 undercutting scion by $700 they'd still make a killing.

Just find someone that isn't an enthusiast and that bought the car cuz it looked cool. Ask them if they want to switch grills, I could promise that most of them would probably say yes.

just got done chatting with the helpful Scion "advocate"
Q: i asked why the grille isn't available at a more reasonable rate since current tC owners are the ones creating the demand.
A: advocate said that if Scion made the grille available to everyone the Release Series would "lose it's charm"..

apparently the RS1 is charming and only because of its grille...

Q: So Scion acknowledges there is a demand for a reasonably priced grille from current tC owners who don't want a red car..but are unwilling to fulfill that request?
A: he said he had spoken with other owners with the same complaint today and while most understood why the grille is priced as such.."nothing can be done about it"....

correction: nothing will be done about it. scion sucks. they are a bunch of hipocrates. the brand is about personalizing your car, meaning you say what's special and what's not special. they can't say that and then put out all these release series cars that they say are special. that goes against their mission. f ing retards

don't get me wrong though. the cars are really cool, it's the people who work for scion that are the assheads.

Damn, I just got teased by my dealer. I called them to inquire about a RS1 grille and the parts guy told me "we can get it from our warehouse for $124.02." I went bug-eyed and asked "And that's for the Release Series 1.0 front grille?"

"What's the Release Series?"

No. It's not. It's like if someone liked the rims and got them for their car, and that's not odd at all.

Like you said, you wanted blue. What does that to do with your grill? Answer: nothing.

I agree that from Scion's point of view, they want the RS to LOOK different not just have numbers on them, but from OUR perspective, we just want the grill.

A better analogy would be wanting the numbered matts or something.

Dude that grill better come with a propane tank and make me some meat! Sheesh! I bet if you did "test drive" an RS1 and brought it back with your regular grill the salesman wouldn't even notice. Some of them are clueless about their products. On a side note... with a price like that they might as well etch the VIN # in that grill!

I saw my first RS 1 tC tonight. The gril is just some cut up metal. I am in full agreement with those who stated that if a company came up with a copy or the black honeycombed plastic they would make a killing. Hmmmm. Wish I knew someone in fabrication.
Scion is gonna lose a lot of people with this kind of bs.
BTW-garden grove toyota/scion has a lovely RS1 out near the street if anyone wants that gril. Plus they put on crappy chrome rims. Very interesting since the EMX 18's are listed on the sticker. Hmm, a potential buyer would want those limited edition rims too.
ARRGHH!

see your thinking of rice, like putting vtech or types on a car that isnt that at all. All we want is the front grill that doesnt say s/e or RS 1.0 (correct me if im wrong)

You are wrong.

I think the absence of the logo on the grille SAYS its the RS 1.0.
