RS3, lose its fizzle??
I just got my oil changed at the dealership. There were two 3.0's sitting there for sale. The way everyone was talking I figured they would be impossible to find lol. The only thing i like is the upper grill.
RS3 is ugly. the color even sux cuz it looks like pee yellow when it gets dirty. when everyone was posting about the rs2 being dumb, i actually thought the rs2 looked great...and the rs1 looked great also...but im very dissapointed with the rs3....i thought it would be one of those, "if u see it in person it would look wayy better", but ive seen it in person about 3 times already, and its still ugly.
I think it might just be the scion fizzle in general is slowing down. When the rs1 and rs2 were out dealerships around here had a hard time keeping any tC in stock. Now I see that the dealerships have 4 or 5 in stock all the time, some being rs3's and some regular.
I don't like the RS3 or any of the others. I don't like the xB's, period. But that's only when they're stock. Do some nice mods...wheel/tire, grill, tail lights, etc, etc, and then I like 'em a lot. That's why I own two...an RS3, and a Black Sand Pearl. Both have all the mods I mentioned, plus many more.
And of course, all cars have periods of high demand followed by less demand, and possibly high/less demand again and again. Only time will tell. Personally, I think the 1st gen xB'x will become cult classics, as have many other simple short run designs like the 55-57 T-Birds, Porsche Speedsters, and the MG TC, D, and F.
For me, it doesn't matter cuz I'm planning on keeping my two until I croak. But who knows...I might sell them both this year.

My dealer still has theirs for sale and it's been almost four weeks since they put it on the lot. And on the other hand; they have the same xA RS 3 for sale...went on sale the same time I bought my tC in November. They want 20,500-ish for the tC and 16,700 for the xA...so they are asking for high price.
Im glad to see people agreeing that this is not atractive at all. The only thing i liked was the tail lights. Scion could have made many better color choices to stand out other than a dirty looking white. Don't get me wrong I like the white tC's but this one is dirty white. I think yellow would be a VERY hot seller, or an orange as mentioned above or even a nice green. Whats next? special edition poop brown? ugh.
I have a RS3 tC and I wasn't a big fan of the Pearl White when I saw it but I wanted a Release Series and so I bought it brand new. I had an 05 Indigo Ink Corolla S that I LOVED but traded in for the tC. I actually like the whole overall look of the car. The pearl makes it look expensive cause you only really see that color on Infiniti or expensive cars. I wasn't fond of the automatic transmission at first but I have come to like it because I can be lazy
Overall I think the RS3 looks cool and I love mine!

everyone is entitled to their opinions. you'll have people who don't like the RS 3, and then there will be people who do like it. we can go on and make threads about why we don't like something, but in the end, where will that get us?
^^^I think the RS accessories have been the disappointment .. i know for me the RS1 grill is what put it over the edge, that grill on any color will set it off... i am jealous of the RS3 tails and the alcantra seats... also would have been nice if the 05's could have the steering wheel controls
^^^ those unknowns look fresh on your ride... those wheels will never get old

I love my RS3 tC. However, in general I think they should have done a lot more to the RSs. Any RS - xA, xB, and tC. I love that my seats are two tone and Alcantra (suede) and I love the shift **** and the tail lights. The ground effects kit is cool too, nothing big but it does set me apart from all the other tCs in town (there are a lot where I live...lots of wealthy people with spoiled kids, and I do admit I'm one of them). I would love to have seen a turbo kit, even stage 0, come factory on the tC even though I know it would have cost twice as much as buying it aftermarket.
Personally, I really think Toyota should make all RS cars, across the board, in a color that isn't available already , even in another shade.
RS1 is hard to beat (yes, i may be biased here) because there is no other color close to the same red, it came w/ 18 inch rims, and has that grill. I wouldn't give any of that up for alcantra seats or an 8 inch sub.
The other day I was dropping off a rental (a Dodge Charger... heh) and as I was driving back out, a guy at the rental place stopped me and asked if my tC came in red, or if I got someone to custom paint it. Now that's the kind of reaction you want from people! lol
As far as accessories, I don't care for the RS2 or 3 for the reasons I explained above.
As far as paint... I do like the white more than the blue. I saw an RS3 at the dealership a couple of weeks ago. It was inside, but I thought the pearl white looked good. It looked classy to me. But then again, that's inside, under flourescent lights and the car wasn't dirty. And the grill is unique, I like it. Much better than the RS2 grill IMO.
And as far as 'flying off the lots'... the RS1 wasn't even flying off the lot, not around here anyway. When I bought my RS1, it was one of 2 at the dealership I got it from, and another Toyota dealership had 2 more unsold at the time. I basically had my choice out of 4 RS1s! And even then, I was on a budget and wanted black... the only reason I got the RS1 is because the dealership offered me more on my trade-in to buy it VS. Ordering and waiting for a black one.
But I do agree... Toyota needs to branch out in colors a little more. Granted the blue on the Rs2 is different than the other 2 blue options (at the time), but that still means there's 3 different kinds of blue tCs. Everytime I tried to explain the RS2 to someone, they'd see one of those other blue tCs and go, "Is that one of them?". lol.
