Rust in the fuel tank inlet?

Hmmm, but is a replacement really necessary? Has the dealer said what it actually is?

dealer fixed it without a problem.

Took about 2 hours and the new one is shinny and clean

i have the same thing to my tc.. good thing i traded it in for a dodge ram.. hope the dealer doesnt found out about it...

went to 2 dealers today...Wondries Toyota and Toyota of Glendora....both of them don't want to replace it and said it's normal..well...not so happy with them...

call tooyoya/scion ans tell them about your problem and that it maybe rust

id rather live with a slight discoloration, instead of letting incompetent dealers screw around with the fuel inlet.

the inside of the fuel tank has a special lead-based coating (called "tern coating") to prevent corrosion from gasoline anyway.
