Hey guys! I found this article that gives us information of saving gas… I haven’t done any of the techniques yet… im going to try it out on a new tank… what do you think of the tips?

definitely my favorite tip right here
Also be sure to avoid road puddles, potholes, uneven pavement, bumpy trails, young children, and elderly citizens, as they all lead to drag on your car and wear on your tires.
1 - I lose faith in any "study" that states a percentage that having the windows open reduces mileage. This varies depending on the aerodynamics of the car. It also doenst take into account the fact that you need one or the other.. you arent going to drive around on 90 degree day with no windows open and no ac. The AC most times uses more gas than having the windows down.
2 - When holding the brake pedal down at a stop light, the vacuum valve in the brake booster is closed. There is basically NO effect on the engine whatsoever. I would LOVE to see thier "numbers" behind the reasoning that holding the brake pedal down is hurting your mileage. If I am missing some logic here I will stand corrected, but I can see zero reason that would have any effect. Actually, every time you release the pedal the atmospheric valve is closed and the vaccuum valve is opened in the booster to restore vacuum. So on an auto that requires you to press the brake to put it in gear, you would be using and restoring the vacuum to the booster each time you operate the pedal.
As far as the rest.. it is pretty common knowledge, but good info nonetheless. But you will hardly "double" your mileage like they say, since some of the things they mentioned (like number 1 above) will never be done at the same time. There is also a huge variation in the effect of AC on the mileage. Variable displacement compressors allow much more efficiency while running the AC than standard compressors do. So they really should account for everything if they are giving out tips.
In my experience I have seen very little (barely noticeable) change in mileage while running the AC on this car. For example, I have made many trips back to my hometown. That is a 9.5 hour drive one way, and I set the cruise on 80 the entire way, or as much as I can. I consistently have seen 28 - 31 mpg on the trip. That ranges from mid winter, to mid summer running the AC the whole way. So it does have an effect, but the setup makes a big difference.
But, dont get me wrong, it is helpful to post this stuff for people to read, as long as everyone reads close and never takes a websites word as gospel

And, for example, if you’re getting off your slanted driveway, slide off in neutral instead of using your reverse gear to launch you out so you can apply the brakes and deep-fry your cash.
While sitting at a red light, put your car into neutral and take your foot off the brakes, unless you’re on an incline. Surprisingly this will save gas because your car doesn’t have to put that extra oomph into holding the brakes for you, it will also give your brake discs a longer life.
I stopped reading at that point. I'm sure there are more idiotic suggestions.
