Obviously you're right, but still, you expect that all brand new cars of the same model will have the same characteristics. You don't expect one to have screwed up electrics when the rest are just fine. People test-drive a car to get a feel for the model, not to identify problems with the individual car. I didn't drive my tC until after I signed the deal, because I had already driven another tC previously. You can't blame someone for assuming that all brand new tCs should be exactly the same. They all go through the same build process afterall.

you're right you should not have to worry about it. Just have seen cars that aren't the same and got used to driving the car before signing.

Yeah I was driving my tC last week and my seatbelt got caught around the drive shaft while I was doing 80 on the freeway.

Based upon my thoughts previously posted, I am thinking along the same lines. There is not a wire on the car that would short and destroy the fuse box itself, unless there were metal shunts in place of the fuses

And thre is no wire that would get wrapped around anything rotating that would cause major damage. At worst, I could see a wire chaffing over time due to a faulty install and shorting something out, but not happening the way it is described here.

This is either over exaggerated, the car ran over a down power line, struck by lightening, or a UFO zapped it with a blaster beam. Either way I would not want a new car with any repairs done to it. I would be calling Toyota corporate and demand something done either a replacement, some kind of a discount of the purchased price, let pick out a few grand of accesories and parts, or something. He can't just bend over and take it. A man has to take a stand sometime in his life but if he can't he can go buy a lawyer to do it for him.

Im glad this didnt happen to me. I saw a UFO last nite but hit the flux Capaciotr ignitor and got away from the blaster beam. I say demand a new car and get a lawyer if they dont give you one.
