Default Scion tC - Problems with front passenger seat

So, I have had my tC since august of 2005 and it's a 2006 model. Absolutely in love wiht it, without a doubt. But, I have been noticing that the front passenger seat has been getting more difficult to slide forward when ppl try to sit in the back. Now, when my car was 2-3 months old my friend accidently spilled sea salt all over my car (she sat in the front passenger seat and the sea salt was the kind used for disinfecting new piercings).

I tried to vacuum and clean it up as much as possible but obviously couldn't get under the seat and into the gears. So I'm wondering if whether the salt did anything to the gears. Ever since it happened, I was afraid it was gonna affect it and yet I'm unsure as to how to bring this up with my friend - she knows she did it but she is kinda....stingy. My question is, does anyone else notice more difficulty sliding the passenger front seat in comparison to the driver seat? I know that the driver seat is different from the passenger front seat because it has a position memory thing (excuse me, I dunno the correct term ). The next time I go to the dealership for my 15k maintenance, I'll ask them to check it so that if I need to bring it up with my friend, I'll have evidence. What do you guys think? What are the chances that it's damaged from the salt? How much would it cost to replace the passenger front seat?

You can take that seat out really easy and WD-40 the heck out of the rails to hopefully lift some of the crap out and then add some oil/lube to the rails to keep it moving well... should do the trick... lifting the seat is 5 bolts and disconnecting a wiring harness... pretty straightforward DIY fix... Shouldn't need a new seat.

The dealership should have no prob lubing it up for you as well. Even if it's not covered under warranty, sometimes if it's something really simple, they will just do it. At least in my experience.

not sure if this would make it under a warranty claim, but it's not tough to DIY.

I have pretty much the same car and it seems to be a universal issue that the passenger side seat is a pain in the butt compared to the driver side seat because it does not have the seat memory.....Not to mention it just overall seems clunkier and more difficult to move and manage...not sure why that is...

Yea, I was wondering maybe the salt ate away at the lube? I feel safer to hear that I'm not the only one who has a hard time using the passenger side seat. And my friend with the salt, it's funny cuz she spilled sugar in the trunk of her A4 right after she spilled salt in mine, hehe Can you say karma? Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate all the help!
