can i access this "record keeping" or is it something the dealer can only do?

 

I believe at the moment access to black boxes is available to law enforcement and probably dealers.

The point of these is to record the few seconds before, during and sometimes after airbag deployment to be used in court to prove whether you were lying about how fast you were going and what not.

If it was true the 09s would have one that the 08s dont then that would be a selling point to get an 08 now and be done with it.

If the 08s already have it, then screw it I am waiting for an 09.
