Default Scratch on Windshield - Solutions?

Five Days and the Windshield is Scratched

Okay - maybe it's just because I've never owned a new car before, but the other day I drove my beloved Scion over a parking block scraping a little of its plastic underbelly (no real harm). Then, I pulled into the atm machine and accidentally hit the door on a post (no real harm). Today, I turned my windshield wipers on to get some dust off of my window (using the windshield wiper fluid of course), and now I have an ugly scratch in the windshield. I know these things can happen but sheesh! All in the first week!

Anyways, does anyone have any solutions for getting windshield scratches out? It's not bad - just irritating as all get out seeing as it is right in front of the driver's seat.

Thanks!

sounds like u might have to go to a windshield shop to fix that.

i know of some people who have tried to buff the scratches out using a buffer and chrome polish......only to crack their glass after heating it up too much!

Driving home from the dealership, the trailer infront of me dropped a load of mud/rocks conglomerate all over the road in front of me. The one that hit the windshield was big enough to make me duck and cover. Glad I didn't break the windshield but I have a nice scuff and a little bitty dent on the hood just behind the grill. ____ed me off!

Thats why you get the name of the company off the side of the truck and the plates. Trust me, if you hassle them enough they will cut you a check

bump to an ancient thread . . I have a very small scratch from a defective wiper, very mild , the nail will not catch, I tried everything from tooth paste, clear nail polish, chrome polish, carnuba wax, invisible glass, and it hasn't budged, normally I wouldn't bother but it is almost dead in front of my viewing of the road . . guess its time for a trip to a glass shot this week , anyone have any suggestions in the meantime ? I heard a few things about using eye-glass repair kits but not sure.

ya it sucks, I was checking out the repair kits but they were for chips and whatnot, not sure if they would be equally effective to get rid of a scratch, if I run out of options I might give it a try.
