Default screw factory upgrades

These cars don't really have the pizzazz that other comapnies put on their cars, and i think that's the whole point of buying a scion, it's a "blank canvas", i bought my car with zero factory upgrades. I did this because i want my car to be my car now, if u want a your car to be "different" by getting factory stuff, which completely contradicts itself, more power to ya, i know how you guys feel about not wanting to mess up a new car, i always have thoughts of holding back before i do something to my car, but when it comes down to it, as i said before, i want my car to be my car.

this is the reason i didn't release the how-to on my grill, i didn't want other cars out there looking like mine, i made it myself and my car is the only one out there like it. If i wanted to be like everyone else, i would have gotten a civic.

Why do you never see one civic look like another? because honda didn't release so many freakin factory upgrades. All the tC's look the same, everyone has the factory lip kit, the factory fog lights, the factory led kit, the factory spoiler, the factory floor mats.

I know some of you bought a tC because it's a great car for a low price, but most of you bought the car because it was COOl, because it stood out. You saw how the xA and xB's have so much aftermarket support and you knew that the tC would be the same.

I'm not telling anyone to go all otu and spend tens of thousands of dollars and make your car like the 5-axis tC, which i think is horrendous. I'm just saying, really take a look around at what else is out there, and if you can't find anything you like, just wait a few months and it will appear. Don't go for the facotry stuff because you can get it so easily. For a just a small fraction more than the factory lip kit, you can get a full wide body kit, now i'm not factoring in the cost of a paintjob, but you understand my point.

Now if you don't have the capability of doing modifications to your car yourself, go right ahead and get the factory to put on the same crap that goes on everyone else's car. It's easier that way. It's not cheaper, but it's easier

i've put 200 dollars total into my car and it looks like no other tC out there, so for all of you that already spent wayyy too much money on your cars straight from the factory, but for those of you who are still deciding on whether to get that factory lip kit or fog lights or spoiler: think hard about what you're trying to do.

i know i'm gonna get slaughtered for this, but it's just my 2 cents

thanks for reading

Realx your highness...yeah your car looks cool but painting your calipers yellow and making a new grill doesn't mean your car is the bomb...

The only reason I agree to not buy factory-installed parts is the price. a TRD muffler that costs $525 installed can be bought for $325 and installed yourself..it's 2 bolts.

On the other hand...face it bro...it's not important for each one of us to have a "different" car and "stand out from the rest". Not all of us are 19 year old kids that are trying to make a statement and find ourselves...

Yeah, it's fun to buy some things for the car and mod it a bit here and there but that's not for everyone. If someone likes the look of the factory body kit and they want to have it installed...let 'em.

Alot of us have not purchased the factory lip, fog lights, etc...despite what you think. And it's not because wer'e trying to be different...it's cause it's cheaper. I'd eventually like to get the factory fog light kit..I'll pay less than if I got it with the car and I'll install it myself. Sorry that I don't want to jerry-rig something and cut my bumper up...

If we all followed your logic, each one of us would have a completely different car from the rest. Hey, there's only so many spoilers and body kits available. And so if someone puts some new rims on his car and shows them off and I like them and then I go out and get a set because I liked what he did...is there something wrong with that? Should each of us have our own custom rims?

I really don't see the point of your thread..OK you made a cool grill for your car..neato...wow...congrats man...don't worry about not posting the instructions...we'll live without 'em. Y'know...I thought we were all here to share info and ideas...not to preach.

I guess I just don't expect originality when I buy something that's mass produced. All I care about is that it's mine, any mods I do to it will make me happy, and that's all.

I agree with you for the most part. I ordered my car bone stock, not just for price, but because I wanted to make it my own. This doesn't mean I won't be gradually upgrading with TRD approved parts--I have a 6-year warranty that I'm paying for, and I need to take into consideration.

Your grille looks pretty nice... I'm going for the same effect eventually, all matte black with the TRD "// ///" logo in the lower right corner.

Nice job on the calipers too! Nice and subtle, but it stands out.

was this post really necessary? lol

i'm sure some ppl liked the fact that they could add mods to their car and have it installed professionally before they picked it up. personally, waiting for my aftermarket parts to come in is kinda agonizing. if i could've got teins installed by the dealer when i purchased it, i prolly would have haha.

i udnerstand what you're saying, i'm not trying to diss on people who have already gotten the factory stuff, you obviously bought it because you like it. i'm not trying to be better than anyone else. I guess you guys kind of misunderstood my point. I'm not trying to diss on the people that buy the stuff from the facotry, i'm trying to say that the Scion shouldn't have made so many factory things for the tC. TRD stuff is fine, that's practically aftermarket. But teh factory lip kit and spoilers and stuff just blows away their whoel premise for selling these cars. I don't think any of the xA or xB owners had so much discussion of factory parts because really there weren't that many factory upgrades. That's the whole reason i bought a Scion, because it really is a blank canvas, it's not amazingly better looking than other cars on the market, it's just simple and plain and that's why it's got so much potential to be different, to be my own car.

i guess people like me should just buy civics

suby2scion- quit being a jerk

i'll take the pics off if that makes you happy. i really don't care about showing off my car, i just wanted to show that it only takes a small sum of money to make your car look better than stock. please, show me another tC that looks better than mine with 200 worth of parts and has had all it's work done in a garage with just handtools and spring compressor. I wasn't trying to preach or diss on anyone else's car, i just wanted to tell some of the people who don't know as much about modifying to think twice about what they do with their money.

it's obviously not drifting, it's not a rear wheel drive car. I was e-brake sliding/powersliding the car when that pic was taken.

im sure your car is nice. but to some people it comes off to them, that you are trying to show off. yes and some people like my room mate who does not know anything about cars would spend thousands, that is why there are factory upgrades. and the reason why they spend the cash, is that they are too scared or do not know much about cars. so they do not want to mess anything up, or just to plain lazy. i guess everyone has their own way of doing things. some may want to do it themselves, others may want the pros to handle it.

I got mines with a 'blank canvas' too. Mostly because i was too cheap to get the other accessories at 'dealer price' most of em are overpriced imho.

Ok so let me get this straight...

In your first post you say "I'm just saying, really take a look around at what else is out there, and if you can't find anything you like, just wait a few months and it will appear. Don't go for the facotry stuff because you can get it so easily. For a just a small fraction more than the factory lip kit, you can get a full wide body kit, now i'm not factoring in the cost of a paintjob, but you understand my point. "

Ok, then you say in your next post " i'm trying to say that the Scion shouldn't have made so many factory things for the tC"

Then in your NEXT post you say "i just wanted to tell some of the people who don't know as much about modifying to think twice about what they do with their money." And "i just wanted to show that it only takes a small sum of money to make your car look better than stock."

So what is it man? Why not just say "Hey guys! I have some helpful tips and ideas for making your car look much nicer for less than $200...here's what I did!"?

Instead you're berating on everyone who you say spent "waaayyyy too much from the factory"

And by the way dude...keep doing e-brake slides like that and you'll be spending Waayyyy too much on repairs...

Show me carbon fiber B-pillars (aftermarket) cleaner. Door sills better matched? There are some products that just worth getting from scion (better yet scion authorized, cheaper) not to mention WARRANTY... that's also important. I happen to think the car looks dead sexy bare as a babys ___, so modding should be left to the individual. Some things are better aftermarket and you don't have to convince anybody of that, but ripping on the fact that scion has aftermarket parts to offeris just plain retarded...Some people may just want to add a touch like the pillars, and not be Mr. modifier...Just a thought.
