Default Side Airbag Recall = cut out RAAM Mat.. :(

If anyone hasn't taken their tC in for the recall yet, just be aware that they will cut it out. I haven't picked up the car yet, so who knows what else they may have done. I should of thought about that before I took it in.

Now I have to redo the doors I guess. I didn't do them like I wanted to in the first place, so I guess it gives me an excuse to redo 'em... crap.. There goes part of my tax refund I guess.

So you are warned..

The sensor they replace is inside the door.

Damn, that sucks. My dad did not allow me to load up my doors with deadening, so it wouldn't be too bad for me.

Yours may note be affected.
If you don't get a letter, it's likely not.

They probably left the old switch lying in the door.
Why the hell can't they hire decent people to fix bloody cars?

Im with ya!! I've only had my car for a month and already had a problem with the way dealerships treat cars when they are in for service.

thats true. So now I either take the door off myself, or since its still under warranty, bring it back in...decisions decisions (they'd probably say its my aftermarket speaker or something lol)

^^ Take it to another dealer and file a complaint with Toyota/Scion.

I bet its because its hard to find good help. Skilled mechanics open up their own shops or work for family or friends.

Dealerships? They have to hire young kids who don't know what they're doing for the most part. Then what happens when they actually get some experience? They move on to other jobs, graduate, etc.

It's sad, really.

It’s because they don’t have to. As long as dealerships are the only ones authorized to do recall and warranty service, you have no choice but to bring it to them. Most people bring their vehicle (new ones) straight to the dealership because they hope it will be covered by warranty. And even if it turns out to be something that is not covered, most people will just have them do the work anyways since it is already there. They have an endless supply of people to work over.

If they screwed something up, bring it to another place (if you have more than 1 close by) and file a complaint with Toyota. Otherwise all you can do is bring it back in and hope they fix it right (preferably by the 4th visit), file a complaint with Toyota, then pull up your pants till next time.

I also have the same problem! I had zero rattles (very rare!) before I got my car recalled for the airbag sensors, and and long and behold after the fix, I have multiple rattle in all corners of my car. I called in my dealer and they said I can bring in my car but, "Rattle take a long time to fix" said the service lady. So basically I brought in my car for a recall only to bring it in again because of their poor job piecing my car back together?! it sucks even worse cause I can ONLY bring it in on a weekday because they said it was going to take so long to fix it, how lame.
