the truck runs a 10.91 @ 122 with a nice, solid launch, however if you see him on a 60 MPH roll where aerodynamics take effect, etc... I'm sure I don't need to explain to you how a truck can be slower on a roll due to aerodynamics and how a trap speed plays into that

Regardless, that's a sweet video, thanks for the link

Those are nice looking cars. I was looking around in that Volvo forum, and I have to say, some of the newer models are gorgeous cars... I'd chose one over a Mercedes.

Yeah the way volvo is going these days with their newer cars is trying to get the younger aged people. They figure that the younger market is going to be in more a need for these "hotter" looking cars.

somnambulated, man there are some crazy pics from the swedes with these cars. Ya know the 850, someone actually made a 2 door 850. If I can find that pic again I will post it up, it has got to be one of the coolest customs I have seen in a long time.

jrv2000,
I wish the video links weren't down on that site, I'd have liked to see that.

To the Volvo guys here, I am sure your cars are very fast and you have put plenty of money and time into them. You should be proud. From what I have seen the cars look pretty hot. I just don't see what you're getting at with 60-80mph roll ons and trap times and the importance you keep placing on it as it refers to racing a motorbike. Bottom line, you put your car next to a modern 600cc sportbike with a semi-capable rider at a red light and you are going to lose and lose bad. Don't feel bad. 99.9% of the cars on this earth will lose too. Now if you want to go and set up a perfect scenario where you catch the bike sleeping going 60 and see who makes it to 120 mph first, I suppose you can try if you wish. I say you still lose and lose bad, but hey, what do I know. I have neve met a car at city speeds or highway speeds that could overtake me let alone keep within 50 yards of me. And I'm only riding a 650 V-twin.

Victim list includes:
Corvettes of all years, some heavily modded.
Various juiced imports.
Mustangs (my favorite victim)of many kinds, some very heavily modded.
2 Dodge Vipers (don't know what years)
Camaros and Firebirds
Porsche Boxster turbo
Newer Porsche 911 turbo
BMW M3's (Numerous)
BMW Z3
Several WRX's (these guys give Mustang owners a run for their money on the "attitude")

I must confess. I did fall to a Supra twin turbo one time. I friggin popped neutral on my 1 to 2 shift. I lost composure completely! I would have still blown by him but we ran out of real estate and caught up to traffic before I could.

PunkInDrublic,

That is beautiful! That is a badass Viper! I suggest everyone who is saying their car can take a bike watch this video.

It REALLY drives home what I have been saying the whole time on here. The bike is stock (other than maybe a can good for a few horses) and loses soundly to the Viper in rolling starts. But the Viper is a twin turbo good for 1200ft lbs of TORQUE!

DID YOU HEAR THAT? 1200FT LBS OF TORQUE!!! That's what it takes to out-run a stock bike. I would say this Viper qualifies for the .1% of cars I was talking about.

Now if we put that Viper against the Turbo Hayabusa in this video, who is gonna win? (BTW, the turbo kit for the Hayabusa runs about $4000. That puts the cost of the turbo Haya under $16k. How much is a twin turbo Viper? $80K? More?)

Turbo Hayabusa Videos

I recommend viewing the second video down to see the speedo. The guy wheelies on up to 140mph and then sends it up to 220+mph in what seems like 2 seconds. Scary fast.

LOL I couldn't help but post there. What a bunch of idiots. How can anyone act that high and mighty because they drive a Volvo? It's just a Volvo...it's not a Porsche or Ferrari or (insert your idea of a car that fits here).

Aww darn, that Viper Video crashed out. Too bad. That was a good one. Still, the Turbo Hayabusa videos are something to behold. The dudes on those bikes have *****. If you really want to know what "true" LEGAL (250mph) speed looks like, watch those videos.

volvos are built by Ford...and we all know ford stands for Found On Road Dead

way to represent the tC these ***** think it's a lil 4 banger with no power...well it's a banger all right, the volvo found that out

well actually the volvo still beat that tC...

anyways ford took over production in '01 or something like that.
the 850 ceased production in '97. The math says that the 850 is in no way a ford vehicle. SO unless you have a newer volvo, it is still built solely by volvo. scion_tC, your "ford" logic is not applicable here.

Then when I got my bike I was shocked at the amount of "thrust" a bike provides. It's like getting fired off the deck of an aircraft carrier. Outside of top fuel dragracers, it is hard to get that feeling in a 4 wheeled vehicle.

No matter what you are driving or how good you think you can drive it, the power and speed is much more accessable in a bike for an average consumer. It's that simple. It takes professional drivers for car magazines sometimes up to 10 runs to get a good time in a car. One slip and you lose a second or more. A bike is so much easier to pace through the gears and the powerband is so much wider that even if you don't make a perfect run you end up losing only a tenth or 2.

Get the bike my friend and you will see the light. Just be careful out there! There are no fender benders on a bike like the one guy said!

I hear what you are driving at with the 60 mph roll on... were these actual races on circuit where the biker actually knew you were racing him? Or are you just saying you pulled alongside a 600cc bike on the freeway doing 60 and punched it? Maybe the biker didn't know your intentions? Or perhaps by the time he realized you were racing him you already had your car in the best gear, turbo kicked in and rpms up and foot to the floor. By the time he kicks down 3 gears and rolls on I am sure you already put some distance between the two of you.

When I toasted that vette a while back, the sound of his engine roaring at maximum rpm's next to me as we flew down a stretch was funny to me. I am sure he thought he was going to smoke me. I am guessing we were doing around 50 or 60 ish when I decided to actually "twist" my throttle on full. I pulled away from him like he was standing still. I couldn't see his face, but the passengers face went from a laugh to "concerned".

Remember that scene from Spiderman the movie when Peter Parker first gets his powers and he gets in a fight by the lockers? You know how the guy is thowing punches and to Peter it is like the guy is moving in slow motion? That is what it is like racing cars on a bike.
O.K...so, bikes are fast? I think you have beat this horse to death. Why not compare an F-15 fighter jet to a Kite?

Get over it. Bikes are faster than cars...we GOT IT!
