Default snow tires for the TC

I was wondering what the best solution is for dealing with the snow/ice in the winter? Ideally I would like to get studded tires put on, but low profile studs aren't the cheapest things out there. Does anyone if you can buy a smaller wheel and put a normal sized studded tire on it. I know that this will mess with the air pressure monitoring system but besides that will that work? What size wheel...etc.

If your willing to do so, Get some 16 or 15 inch Stealies with a thiner (then stock) snow or all season tire. that would be your best bet for the snow ..
