Because 2 nights ago the radio started to do this random thing where it would just randomly gets these spirts of base, and cut out the muisc, and the base would get really loud and i didnt even touch a thing! so when i brought it in, the service guy tried to sell me service packages like 4 times, finnally the last time i told him listen ive told you 3 times, im here cuz my AC is acting up and so is the stero, im another 500 miles away from my 2nd oil change which your going to be doing for free so stop trying to sell my stuff i dont need i know im a girl but im not that dumb! so finally he shuts the hell up and after an hour and a hlaf of waiting, im getting a whole new radio....he didnt tell me what was wrong with it, but put on the sheet i got "faulty radio" so well see....

they did that to my girlfriend at the gym. 2 "free" personal trainer sessions. they worked out for the first one, and then the second was a sales pitch to sign up for a month.

sadly, she caved.

i'm glad you stood up for yourself.

Well don't be upset about the radio. It's Pioneer that makes those. Not Scion or Toyota.

there are a lot of those radios that are dying.. i had a couple replaced already, seems pioneer has a quality issue. Then again pioneer always hasn't had the best quality. Alpine on the other hand, much better. but hey it's free, so im not going to complain

yeah because manufacturers are trying to make more profit, cutting costs and quality.. hence bugs and bad quality..

are you sure you didnt have your radio's "a.s.l." on? it turns the vol up and down based on "engine noise" (engine speed/r.p.m.). i know how you feel about having to take your new car back to the stealership so soon (i bought my '07 in sept. and the car has been back 9 times...so far just to fix stuff)

Try not to worry so much, you did good standing up for yourself and they're going to replace to radio without any charge.

People often forget how technical some of the everyday things we use really are. There are literally over a hundred parts in that radio that keep it functioning and sometimes, depsite Q&A testing, despite tons of time spent setting up automated factories to build stuff without flaws, stuff just doesn't come out right.

I've built dozens of personal computers for people and replaced god knows how many video cards, hard drives, sound cards, network cards, etc, etc and sometimes stuff straight from the factory is either DOA or dies fairly quickly due to a defect.

What counts is how the company backs it up. Since the dealer is just straight up replacing it for you, I think that's saying something. Other places make you jump through hoops, try fixing things, delay tactics, etc just to keep from ordering a new part.

Good luck with your new radio and hopefully you'll never have to worry about it again after this.

today my girl told me she had the same problem as you: the bass turning up by it's self (shesbeen driving my baby because i broke my hand and car is a manual) well this just started a few days ago (right after we took the car in for the stealership to fix rattle from radio door).....i took a look and noticed the volume know is now scratched up, turns out when the (radio)door was adjusted it was moved too close and rubs the volume ****(also **** for audio setting) maybe it could be the radio door too close for you too?
