Default So...I just test drove a 06 Civic Si...

I don't honestly believe anyone who says they were deciding between the tC and the Si and could legitimately afford both vehicles chose the tC. Legitimately as in literally afford the Si with insurance, etc....If insurance was too high for the Si and you chose the tC..then you couldn't run with the civic and thats definitely understandable.

However, anything else...yep you're bull____ting. Maybe even those few people who already had a set-up already planned when they bought the tC. As in those who actually bought to the tC with the set-up all at once...but then again if this was the case you'd be moving into the 350z range. So, again I'd still call BS.

Possibly those who needed the room and didn't care about the performance...however the Si only comes in 6-speed so anyone choosing between the tC and Si would generally be under the performance demographic by default.

Anyways...I enjoyed it. The car had a short shifter, upgraded exhaust, lowered, and rims, so it wasn't really tuned with at all as far as performance goes.

I also liked the front interior more, but the back seats the tC definitely gets an edge.

Nice car...

I test drove both and wanted the si but the honda dealer put 8k worth of accessories in to it and treated me like I was waisting there time. I went to the scion dealor they had a line on tc's and the sales guy really just wanted me to like the car as much as he did. He owns an xb and is a mod on this forum. It was all around a better deal, and has WAY more after market support. I love toyotas had 3 mr2's (still have my 91 turbo) and really the civic heritage wasn't for me.

The Si's are nice, but I know a lot of people who wouldn't buy the car simply because at the end of the day it is a Civic, which is the epitome of a ricer in many people's eyes.

I hate too how the car, and Honda's in general, have gotten so expensive. I don't want to spend 21K on a damn Civic. Add the HFP lip kit, some after market wheels and a drop, and you're getting to the 23K plus mark easy.

I went on the 8th Gen Civic forums and saw a bunch of people complaining about the car's problems, pretty much admitting that Honda now lives off of their reputation of having reliable cars and has taken short cuts, especially since all the new Civics are made in their Canada plant and not overseas like the good 'ol days.

Honda just doesn't do it for me, I think sometimes these forums are full of noobs/idiots, but head over to the Honda forums and you will see why they are the laughing stock of the car community. All they talk about is I-VTEC and have no idea WTF they are talking about. I'm not claiming to know it all, because I don't, but those guys have egos... Only people I really have respect for are the RSX owners, because they seem to be pretty easy going and their forums for the most part are a tight nit, anti rice community compared to the Civic guys.

I also would rather take a tC, drop 4K to 5K on mods in it, than have a stock Si. Just my opinion though...

the RSX forums are pretty bad too...but I'm not going to choose my car because of forums.

I don't know much about the "problems," I'd have to look it up more if I wanted the car, but it is a nicer car then the tC stock.

Mostly just little things. Their Drive By Wire electronic throttle control seems to lag a lot more than the tC's, that's honestly the only thing I can remember. I lurked on their forums for awhile because I actually was thinking about getting one, but couldn't justify 21K on a Civic. Honda has to work out the bugs with it since it is a new platform, if you want to get one I'd wait for the '09 model to make sure they have everything fixed.

I know the only problems with the 06 was that the RPM hanged when you got offf the trottle for a second or two. they have since fixed it, and provide a free re-flash. the 07 and 08's do not have this problem.

3 things bugged me about the Si...

1. The entire center console would shake when I shifted (I could tell because I lean my leg on the console, and could feel every movement. It just didn't feel well put together.

2. The dealer here in LA was asking $26K for it. I'll take a used EVO or a new mazdaspeed3 thank you very much.

3. Rice wing and body kit is just plain ugly. Hey, an EVO is ugly too, but at least it's fast. Even thoug the Si is faster than a tC, it's still SLOW.

That's not something that is wrong with the Si itself as a car...

Just a few things
these things are also few of the things I wish the tc has, in addition to this the ride is more comfortable than a stock tc plus better seats and interior. I still like the tc exterior better though, there's just a lot of things to be mod on a stock tc so it makes it more expensive.

Si is a better car but IMO is not much of a higher class. It might have been the car I would have considered before my tc but should I want to upgrade my car I would choose something else.
