When VTEC kicks in, it isn't actually a gas saver. It can often guzzle as much gas as a V8.
You're gonna rev 6000+ every time you shift gears?

If you drove the Si to feel v-tech every time, and drove a S/c to hit 6000k rpm everytime...same ____.

I just laugh at their faces. For that much money, I'd rather get a WRX or Speed3.

I don't regret not getting an SI since I don't think it worth the extra $7,000 I would've paid for over my tC.
Thats another thing...if you could legitimately afford the Si like I said, but you'd have to find a deal on it. If the only thing you could do is get a Si at 24000.00 + then yeah thats a rip off...but if you really tried and you're here on the forums today...and you really wanted it you could and you WOULD find a deal on the Si.

Trust me, not every Si owner payed that much. Probably not even most...

Just depends how you're getting it. Cash? Finance? Lease?

All depends.

I've driven an SI and the engine is dead, feels just like grandma's civic, unless you hit VTEC. What I like about the tC is that it's more of a city driver. I feel my head go back without having to hit +4,000rpm. I'm a daily driver, I don't really care much about revving to 8,000rpm to get on the freeway onramp.

I don't give a rat's ___ about the SI enough to go to a dozen dealerships, be tortured hours just for them to sell me the car at MSRP.

When I bought my tC, it took me no longer than 30minutes for the whole deal. It would've taken less time if I didn't change my mind (was getting a regular one and my RS2 cast a spell on me and I couldn't let go) to redo the paperworks.

The same could be said about the WRX or Speed3. You can haggle on any car.

On that note, most people don't WANT to go through all the trouble of finding a salesman that won't be a total screwhole to you, and then have to haggle with him to pay what the car should be worth. I just walked into a dealership, told them what I wanted, had them order it for me, and a month later I had a Scion exactly how I wanted it. No hunting, no haggling, no fussing (except for the delivery). </threadjack>

Whats all this talk about waiting till the vtec kicks in,, lol All that stands for is Variable valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. The system is always on from 0 to 8500 rpm, That would be the same as saying wait until are vvt-i Kicks In..

Anyways back to topic. I love how all the civic si's always look at my car as i drive by them, at redlights and stop signs. I always wonder what there thinking

I test drove both. In all honesty, other than the LSD and the much higher redline, I liked the tC much better. I gave both honest and true consideration. Along with the V6 Mustang and the new Lancer as well.

Out of all of them, for the money the tC came with the most. And it is fine as heck to drive, especially after your put about $1200 in suspension work.

If you were to get the Spec version of the tC, with the S/C and coilovers it would still be less than the Si. And overall perform MUCH better.

You are incorrect sir. VTEC is not always ON, you need to do a little more research before posting such things.

Also, VTEC is not the same as VVT-I, it is actually much better.

Here is a good read for you http://www.billzilla.org/vvtvtec.htm

the thing w/ si with vtec is that if you daily drive you get good mpg coz you dont rev high but if you want power or when you race you can take advantage on the vtec, lol i dont think vvti kicks and gives you power at high rpms though. I dont think the low end torque advantage of tc is that big for you to say "tc is better, faster in daily driving because of low end torque" yeah low end torque is great but i dont think the difference is that high between si and tc. And IMO i think vtec that honda/acura brags is overated though yes it kicks but some people just brags about them like they are 75 shots of nitrous or something

Ok flint, so the motor is a non vtec until 6000 rpm's and then a vtec engine from 6000 to redline

Get educated bro.

VTEC is a second lobe on the camshaft that kicks in. It allows the valves to open and close at a different rate so more air and fuel can be burned. More air and fuel burned = more power.

High reving cars are usually overpriced.

Civic SI: $24,000
Corolla XRS: $19,000
Celica GTS: $24,000
RSX-S: $24,000

My Scion only cost me $18,000 and if I want more power, I just spend another $2,200 on TRD supercharger (price went down) and I have power and torque.

I know how a tampon works too, but that doesn't mean I am going to go out and buy some.

Civic SI is only 21,195 coupe and an extra 200 for the 4 door.

Yes, it is next to the flux capacitor. This is so the VTEC stays on all the time.

As long as you reach 88 miles per hour and the VTEC don't sh*t the bed!

haha this post is funny...ya'll should of just bought an '08 XB, then there wouldn't of been any regrets j/k. but seriously, I can't believe this thread was even brought up. simply ridiculous. these cars are economical, so to argue about performance and such as if it really matters to the 1/4 mile is getting carried away. "ya dude, i hit low 14's on the strip with my SI...top that!".

the real reason why SI's aren't hot is because they look like Saturns haha. and finally, you're all TC owners so hug and kiss...you all made the same decision in the end by not picking up a crappy SI
