Mid 14's is not bad at all for a 4 banger.
Just accept the fact that your parents spoiled you enough to buy a new TC. Bashing on others' views/reasons of why they bought their TC shouldn't be of your concern. At this point, I would not trade in a tC for a Si (and have to pay the difference). As far as a straight up trade? Quite possibly. It is what it is now, and I love my tC.
Bashing on other's views and reasons? Wait so there's a double standard? My opinion and views can be bashed but not those who are biased towards the tC?
The Si is still an economical car, however you're taking a step into the performance world.
I wouldn't go out and buy an Si as an economical car, because the MPG will still be low as compared to the other "economical" cars.

The word "afford" here is not being looked at correctly. That's the problem with American citizens...afford is a lot more than just having "enough" money for it.
If you make 20k a year, you can save all that money and buy a tC. Can you afford it tho?

I was merely stating that it was a stupid thing to say. Especially over the internet. I do agree I am not sure how someone could live off of $20,000/year, I know that I couldnt.
I live in Long Island, one of THE most expensive places to live in the US. I pay for everything I own, in fact I live here alone ... by myself.
I could likely afford a G35 if I realllllly wanted to have one. I would just not be able to save any money or look at getting a house for the next 10 years. To me that just doesnt make sense. I would rather have something that appreciates not depreciates. Hence why I purchased the tC.
I just thought it was very dickheaded of him to come on here saying "There isnt a car on the planet that I couldn't purchase .... ya ya ya". Go sit in your leather high back chair in the library, smoking your damn piipe, in the mansion you have, on a hill top, with a 67 car garage (full of tC's because that is what you would want over anything else), AND humm on my *****.

Some of you thinking about getting the SI should check out the November issue of motor trend. They do a 20,000 mile review and they get an average of 16.5 mpg, and in the 1/4 mile they got a 15.2 @ 93mph. They have alot more about the car but look for yourself.
So as far as the gas mileage goes it doesen't seem all that great at 16.5 mpg with premium, and i guess over time the car gets a little slower too.

This thread is beyond retardedness... What is the point of this anyway? Anyone in their right mind can tell you that current gen si is a LOT more performance oriented than a tc. We have people in this thread talking about how they didn't wanna pay 2xxxx for A CIVIC?!?! Who cares if they call it a "civic?" At the end of the day, it is still a faster car. Claiming you can't justify spending 20k+ ON A CIVIC, just means you didn't have the money. Then we get people talking about what they can afford... Sure, any 18-24 old kid mooching off the parents can buy a pretty nice car on low wages, but why does this even matter? The topic of post is si vs tc... Should have been a dead topic. Then we get people carrying on about gas mileage and other little knitpicks, that are just lame! If you could sacrifice mpg for performance, on your tc, you are telling me you wouldn't? Don't take me as a troll either, I am a current scion owner, and have had civics previously. I'm glad I got the tc over the si (yes, I could AFFORD it). Doing a performance comparision is not a good idea, the si definately outperforms the tc, but if you are concerned about performance, why are you buying tc's and civics? Either one is relatively expensive to make fast, not too loud, reliable, and easily driveable.
