Ok since Ive been getting alot of PMs and such Ill try to answer some of the questions here...
Not sure... I dont think last years model did, Ill maybe try to make up a disc and let you know though...
Picture is very clear! It is every bit as good as the Kenwood if not better (I owned the ddx7015 before). I have seen an alpine awhile ago and while it looked good, I cant say if it was any better than the eclipse... It was in a display board and I didnt have the eclipse at the time.
Not that I found yet... but there are lots of menus and such and Im still learning the unit. I do know the kenwood did not have anything like that either though.
This unit is still soooo much more visually appealing than the Kenwood even on just menus. I was very dissapointed with the screens on the kenwood. Besides now I can just have the navi going on the screen. Most graphs and such are cool for the first couple days, but are really just an extra novelty IMO...
Ill maybe take more pics later, but you can check the website - www.eclipse-web.com
Again I have no experience with the alpine unit (last alpine I owned was a 9815 and it was in another car), but the Eclipse is head and shoulders above the Kenwood. I dont know where you heard that the eclipse has less power (maybe less than the alpine), as it has an internal 50x4 peak amp inside which is pretty standard now. The Kenwood EQ interface is much different with the Eclipse being easier to use, although both can be adjusted to accomplish the same things. An external EQ will always be your best bet if you are big in to sound quality.
One HUGE thing this new eclipse has over last years and the kenwood is the 5 Volt Preamps, compared to the low 2V of Kenwood (again not sure on alpine). I will take a more powerful amp signal anyday
Eclipse has long been known in car audio as being on of the best when it comes to sound quality.
Other things worth note:
-Sirius interface is MUCH better than the Kenwood unit. Much faster to switch between channels (my kenwood would have a 2-3 second delay - this one is like 1 sec max usually), as well as the song info coming in (Kenwood would take like 5 seconds to display info after the channel was tuned in, with the eclipse I can usually see the song info immediately after I change the channel - even before the music starts).
-The Eclipse panel opens and shuts slightly faster than the Kenwood (such as ejecting disks and such)
-Eclipse plugs directly into factory harness, except needing to hook up the speeed pulse, reverse, and parking brake wires (or gournd it
)
-The Eclipse does not come with a remote out of the box - you need to buy one seperately.
-Yes there is a CD player menu, as well as FM/AM, Aux input, Navi, etc.
-Navi voice comes out of passenger speaker, but if you are blasting your music it can be difficult to hear even on the loudest setting since it doesnt really mute the other speakers.
-Eclipse Warranty is 3 years and 1 year ESN theft warranty (if it gets stolen out of your car, get a police report and eclipse will give you a new one
)
-Ive never used the Kenwood Navi, but I am very happy with the Eclipse version. There are tons of things I am still learning. You can have it display local points of interest, so when you are near it will display an icon for Mcdonalds for example... you can the touch it and it will even give you their phone number for the place nearby. You can turn on many categories... gas stations, restaurants, shopping, banks, atms, parks, etc.
-Default Navi map is white background and when you turn on your lights it inverts and the background goes black so it is much easier on the eyes at night.
There is tons more but Im not thinking of it right now. If anybody has any questions Ill try to answer...
does it play dvd-mp3 discs?
is the picture very clear? (The alpine one has like 1.15 million pixels, the kenwood has like 330k, dont know about the eclipse)
does it have a spectral graph? (like the moving bars that go with the music/sounds)

any more pictures of the unit?
hows the sound? (the kenwood and the alpine aparently have more of a frequency band then the eclipse plus more power)

Only difference between this unit and a regular radio is a couple more wires to hook up (speed pulse, reverse, and parking brake), and the gps antenna. And sirius has some extra wires and such. Not too bad...

Wheels are Axis Finish staggered - front 19"x 8.5" with 225/35/19s rears 19" x 9.5" with 245/35/19s. Tires are Nitto 555s. I was actually possibly wanting to get something new since Ive seen a few tcs now with these rims... but its all good
I actually bought them back in december but only put them on a few months ago... Axis never really marketed the rims I guess and sold the design to Jaz - You can buy them from Jaz now.
