I dunno what to say to make you feel better... except that the dealership I work at has a surplus of new 17" wheels that we are trying to get rid of. New with no tire is $100 per wheel plus $30 shipping.

Don't worry. I've done this to BOTH front rims/tires when parking next to a curb. Both times I ripped the tire. Costed me $230 for one tire alone. (Bridgestone Potenza 215/45ZR17). I scrapped 1" on the left front rim and about 4" on the right one. It hurts but its not very noticible. You'll be fine!

if it makes you feel a little better at least your not a BMW owner,

a E39 M5 (Current Generation) a wheel cost $500 just for the front!!

if a BMW customer has bent wheels and all four tires are bad he will have to pay not including labor it will cost him or her about $4000 in parts and labor. and their usually not kept in parts stock.

do what i did with my old car. flat black em' they look cool with any color and when you scratch them all you gotta do is repaint them! but i know thats not an option for most of us. don't worry guy, it happends to the best of us!

If you could afford a BMW M5, paying $500 for a rim you scratched would'nt be too bad
