Sorry, a "Pure Pricing" Question....
Hello, New guy here....
I searched the forum and couldn't find anything specific to this topic & I apologize if it's been covered in some other thread. I "understand" this "Pure Pricing" scheme involving no haggle, but does this apply only to the selling price of the car itself? What I mean is that, the 3 dealers I spoke to all quoted the same price for a base tC, but they all had different dealer fees, which is common. My question is if it is possible to eliminate the dealer fees because they are not part of the tC selling price, just an added profit for the dealer or is it considered part of the no haggle chain because they must do the same for every customer? I know that the car is selling well, but I was going to offer them 2 sales for the price of one if they dropped/lowered a dealer fee. Thanks

it depends on how much they charged you for the "dealer fee". me, it was around $45 and on the invoice, it was explained as a documentation fee. I guess to get their paper work, etc together to sell me the car. small fee i guess. other than that, the other charge were necessary.. tire recycling, tax, etc.
pure pricing means they cant determine a separate "invoice price" compared to the "window or sticker price". dealerships do that to promote/mark-up their prices according to demand at the time. scion's pure pricing doesn't allow that. invoice = sticker = base price.
hope that helps.

Some people have had these fees lowered a bit.
I can't see them lowering them much, considering the way the cars are flying out the door.
If I was a dealer, I'd tell you to take it or leave it and while your thinking about it, get out of the way because the guy behind you wants to buy one NOW.

to answer your question....yes the dealer fee's can and will be different from dealer to dealer if you look in any scion add or tv/radio spot they always have the disclaimer "actual dealer price might vary" we can sell the car for what ever we want as long as we post the price of what we are sellin the car for...scion is a no haggle experience but it's not "fixed pricing" we can/could charge more than MSRP or less we just have to post that price and all of our customers (for that store) pay the same....same holds true for Doc, processing, tire, misc fee's that the dealer might charge...as long as the fees are posted that's what they are....and every customer pays them
Pure Pricing goes for pretty much everything (at least that's what my dealer told me...) Car Price, Accessory price, even the finance rate is purely based on what your credit rating is. In other words, don't expect an end-of-the-year 0% financing promotion if you want this car...
Thanx for the replies guys, seems that there's still some grey, but some of it is cleared up. I already knew dealer fees varied and were garbage that the dealers added on, even when they said "I can't take it off, it's already printed in ink."
I definitely know these bad boys are selling like hot cakes, but I would still think a dealer would want to get 2 deals done so I figured that's my ONLY leverage to get the dealer fees slashed because I wouldn't be asking for $45 taken off. Every dealer fee in my region is at least in the $399 - $499 area so I'm definitely looking to take that off or move on...

You live in the southeast, I'm guessing?

Us SE brothers feel the pinch the most ay
Toyota's SE division RAPES people with doc fees. I remember last year people were flying north and driving home, because it was still cheaper than the 4-600 doc fees the dealers were charging down there.

I don't like being hustled, which is why I like pure pricing.
Toyota's pure pricing can't be negotiated. However, dealer installed option can be negotiated along with dealer fees and other hidden fees. I purchased a 2006 Scion tC w/ Toyoguard ($610) , Mats ($145), Window Tint ($145), & Sub Upgrade ($449) and I got a check back from the dealer in the amount of $245.00. All in short, I walked out the door paying on $19,996 and thats with tag/tax/and all other fees. Literally, I got the Toyoguard for free, Window Tint for Free, and the Floor mats for Free. There is always wiggle room for negotiation or pricing with the dealers. I know I got my $900+ dollars worth of free options.

Pure Pricing= the price the dealer advertises and posts is the price you pay.
so, if they advertise a certain price for a dealer fee. you get to pay it. sorry.
hope this helps.
embrace the system.
I got a crazy deal. I ordered my 2006 Scion TC with Ipod, for 15950. Yes, that's right. No dealer fees and TTT included in the price. It's a crazy deal, the only catch is that I had to go on a waiting list for it and now I'm waiting till mid-November for my car. Hey, the wait is worth it considering what everyone else is paying.
Does anyone know if the pure pricing applies to used Scions as well?
I went to a local dealer and saw a 2005 IIP tC. I was thinking, hmmmm, it would probably be a little cheaper and maybe I can get one sooner.
The sticker said $19,995.00. With NO options, not even the floor mats. And with 11,000 miles. I went inside to ask one of the salesman about that. He had me sit down first and said, "We can not adjust the pricing on the used cars and that Scion is the only car you can drive for a year and sell it back for what you paid."
True or crazy? Ordering the same exact car in NBM would be $17,500.
