I have had no problems starting. What exactly do you mean by start up too fast? like not run the starter long enough?

Yeah, but then again I'm really impatient and always in a rush.

like get in the car and start up right away...and you know the needles jump back and forth when you turn your key...i don't wait for the needles to settle and start the car..sometimes the car won't start....

from my understanding... EFI cars you need to let the injector to build pressure first. so turn your key to ON but don't start the car yet... you should be able to hear this hiss sound for 2-3 secs. i hear it on my Spec V, not sure if tC will do the same. hope this helps...

maybe you just need to wait 2 more secs in holding the key when starting the car?

The way it was explained to me is that the engine has to turn a certain number of times so that the CPU can get information from the various sensors. Once it gets the information the CPU allows the injectors to spray. It's a bit like your computer booting up. I hope that this isn't a trend!

Folks like me who are used to old carburated cars firing on the first turn find this disconcerting. We're used to just bumping a well-tuned engine and having it running.

hrmm... my DE teacher said something like that back in the day... I don't know crap about cars.... but I'm pretty sure he said the thing is you're injecting gas but the sparks not flying... so the more you turn the key the more you flood your engine with gas... then you have to wait for some of the gas to evaporate before you can start it up... I'm pretty sure he said something like that.. but please don't flame me, I'm ignant

Illegal? Where?

As long as the transmission has a neutral switch, it doesn't matter if the transmission is a stick or auto.

However, the Scions MT models do not have a neutral switch, so one would have to be designed to read neutral from the existing linkages

5sp MT here

no problem on the remote start, I use it all the time on my car

If you can get it done, get it done

you can install it yourself if your installer wont install it, it is that easy...

That's interesting - I noticed my 5 speed integra started really fast - as in, from the time it started cranking to the time it caught was almost instantanious. When I got my 5 speed tC, I was a little surprised that it seemed to need to crank a little more. I figured it was just the bigger/heavier engine, but it would make sense if it was the ECU waiting for the engine to turn a few times to get some sensor readings and then letting things catch. I'd also feel better about it that way
