aright guys... everytime i have been to the dealership for an oil change i have seen atleast one tc in there with a clutch/transmission issue. I am wondering if anyone out there has had a problem with their clutches or trannies because i take it pretty hard on the car and wouldnt be able to afford a repair like that. hopefully it would be covered under warranty but i doubt it. i dont know why either the shipment to south florida was bad or all the drivers down here that owned those cars were bad because according to the service guy they all hard blown trannies or clutches(more clutches than trannies).... thanks in advance guys

 

Do you know how many miles were on them? I had 13,000 on my last tc never had a problem with the transmission.

 

No issue here, pushing over 14,600 miles.

 

well... if you switch gear to R while you are still moving forward a little, you will have problem with your tranny . Alot of people do this.

 

that's only with automatics

 

Ok, do that with your manual tranny, move forward 5 mph and switch to R.

 

heh heh, what i meant was u can throw a manual tranny into reverse at any speed [100 mph if u want ] BUT u can't [well, u can if u want] release the clutch otherwise, as u say, you will b in the shop with the rest of the burned tranny people.

 

I dont think so. Even if the clutch is in, you will hear grinding noise. Please dont do it at 100 mph lol.

 

i was rolling backwards out of an inclined parking space, at like 2mph, clutch in, and stick neutral, when I tried to put it into reverse to get moving quicker, I got grinding. So either way, I think if the cars moving and you try to put it into R, it'll grind.

 

nah dude he is right, i have backed out of the driveway and then realized that i did a crappy job and had to put it in reverse again, i was barely crawling forward, and the gears grinded... very very embarrasing, oh yeah and it sucked to be the reverse gear too.

 

Yeah, that too. Why did you put it to R. Why not just let it roll backward and save on gas lol jk.

 

hmmm, i haven't tried it with this car i must say, but back in the day when i drove a '79 Plymouth i could run through all the gears at high speed with the clutch pedal down. i guess things have changed

20,000+ miles on my 5-spd, and it's still running great.

 

I was going about 25/30 mph and put it into reverse.....b/c i got high b/c i got high b/c i got high.....

no, i really did it like a freakin moron. I didn't actually get it into reverse, I just got it to grind like there's no tomorrow and I screamed like a little girl right after doing it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's ok too. I've ground the hell out of third once b/c it would go in for whatever eason (it's actually happened more than once, but the grind only once) and going into reverse sometimes gives a little grind action

 

Same here, grind sometimes on third and only on third!

Grind on R sometimes cause im so used to my sync'd a4 audi ;(
