Default stock muffler, 2.5" pipe?

do you guys any HP will come out of

headers + 2.5" pipe + stock muffler?

the reason why im considering this is that the stock muffler can really baffle the sound REALLY RELALY welll!!!!

but i also want HP, i know the headers will give me some but do you think the 3.5" pipe will help out?

i think it would help... are you talkin about the dc headers? change the piping all the way from the header (s-pipe) back... it will give you some power... the stock muffler does baffle the sound REALLY well, but the thing is HUGE and i bet really restrictive... uncorck it, should be more power, but then again you want quiet

3.5" exhaust pipe is way to big. I would go 2.5" max. If you are going to change it.

I believe our stock exhaust piping is already 2.5in???

The stock muffler seems to do its job well. I mean if the DC header doesnt create any buzz with the stock muffler then its got to be really restrictive!!!!!

Im sure bigger piping mated with the stock muffler would help power wise, but not really that much. IMO :?

3.5" piping is way to big for a stock inline 4...

Get a blower, then depending on your PSI, maybe...

the stock piping is 2 1/4... i did my whole exhaust from cat back with 2.5inch piping, no muffler, and i can tell a major difference in power and acceleration... it is loud, but not ricey... it sounds good and its faster... it also has that nice turbo gurgle to it when i shift in high RPMs....

Rule of thumb when piping N/A I4s is 1/4" bigger than stock. Don't go any bigger than 2.5". These cars need some back pressure.

thanks,

i uncorked it once and once i found out how loud it got, that muffler went back on, but i felt a difference in power so...

and yes i was refering to DC headers, unless there are other headers that puts more output?

so 2.5 it is...

Says who??? Remember the dyno runs with all the Weapon-R mods. That car dynoed a best 161whp running open header. As some people say, when N/A cars dont have much backpressure the torque is suffered. If I remember the open header on the tC had great torque gains.

Put it this way, these cars have great low end torque. I dont think putting really big exhaust piping would hurt the power or torque of these cars much. Now is it smart, of course not. Its a waste of money for huge piping.

2.5in will be the best as others have said.

Default Good enough

2.5 Is good enought for the engine. Any bigger and you better be adding a turbo or some sort of FI.

Dyno charts are one thing, driveability is another. Even if a 2AZ dynoed notibly higher hp/tq /wo exhaust that dosn't mean you should do it. On all NA engines back pressure is important. There are several reasons, one is that the intake charge entering the combustion chamber will have to much inertia if the exhaust is open and will partially escape before its fired. Would someone 'swis cheese' their chasis and cut their exhaust off already to prove to the n00bs that its not worth it?? PLEASE?

i was thinking of doing something similar. how much did you pay? I also did notice that my car makes a minor turbo sound. but i think it's coming from the intake

i was referring to the backfire gurgle that a turbo'd car makes when shifting gears, or downshifting... kinda hard to explain if you dont know what i'm talking about....
