It isn't a law here yet. It will be come July 1st. I'll be interested to see how heavily they enforce this law, because it seems like about 30% of all drivers are talking on their cellphones at any given time.
its a law here in NJ though...and i see it happening way too often that i wonder if cops even pay attention.

i too was on the NJ turnpike about 3 weeks ago and i was in the right lane, and a woman in an explorer started to veer over to the right, without a turn signal, she moved back over though. then all of a sudden, as about half her truck is still next to my car, she starts to move into my lane, again, with no signal. i lay on my horn and have to swerve into the shoulder and i started to lose control of my car because i went over those rumble strip things, but i got it together after a second or two. worst part is that she slammed on her brakes when i used my horn.

then she sped off real fast, i caught up to her (had to go about 105 to do it too) and slowed down to get next to her in the left lane, and of course, she was on her phone. my sister practically hung out the window giving her the finger and screaming at her.

i hate the turnpike sometimes.

Its hard for cops to even notice when people are on there phones and they see a cop they just put there phone down.
If a cops sitting on the side of a highway and you pass by on your phone doing 65 he cant see a phone in your hand.

They do that all the time here and I drive about 25 miles each way to work (TRDSPARKS Baby!!) every day. We have so many tourists here in Myrtle Beach and no one knows where they are or where they are going to they are swerving and switching lanes like crazy people to begin with. Let alone driving around so no one can see them! I've almost hit several people because even when looking over my shoulder in the rain I didn't see them. Then they have the nerve to blow the horn and flip me off. Oh well, they'll understand better I guess when they get into an accident and the cops give them a ticket I hope!

Cell phones should be banned while driving, period. I cant believe it hasnt already been done. And texting while driving should be punishable by loss of license for a min of 6 months first offense IMO, with jail time on the second offense. How people can do something that stupid is beyond me. Retaliating is a bad idea though.. could just cause more problems or a wreck.

I just dont get it though, why is it that so many people are so addicted to thier little phones? I swear people cant live without a phone call for 10 minutes. Not only is it rude most of the time, but causes all sorts of other issues. I was getting off a plane a while back after travelling, putting in about 60 hours of work at a location, then having a long, delayed string of flights home. While waiting to get on the plane, there is a guy behind me who not only had to constantly be on his phone, but had to talk full volume the whole time. I could hear him on the plane (he was about 10 rows back) up until they made everyone turn them off. When we landed... there he was again, phone glued to his little yuppie ear, talking as if we all just had to hear how important his conversation was... I managed to keep a grip until we got into the airport again. He was walking right behind me, yapping away loudly... until I finally, already worn out and irritable.. couldnt take it and turned and asked if he could politely shut the f$#k up because I was getting tired of his yapping... he just stood there stunned and speechless

Its bad enough that they're not the best drivers to begin with. I'd be hard pressed to choose between driving behind a woman or an 80 year old man on A1A.

But they have to further augment themselves by putting on makeup and yapping on the phone. I've seen girls in Florida do things behind the wheel of a car that you'd have to see to believe.

http://www.phonejammer.com/

Not legal to use though. I know someone that had a jammer and would only turn it on if a person was on the phone and driving stoopid.

I hate people that "try" to drive and do other things at the same time. There's been several times that I wanted to make someone pull over because she was trying to drive and put on make-up at the same time. I wanted to tell her that she's not doing too good at either, and that there isn't enough make-up in the world that can fix ugly.
