Default Stupid Sunroof..

I tried searching for what to do, but all i found was problems about the sun roof not closing properly, well my problem was that it won't open completely..

I was out of town for a few weeks and my car was parked in my apartment complex, not driven or anything. When I got back into and got in my car, I tried to open the sunroof like I usually do, but only one side of it opened.

I took it to the dealer and they wanted to replace the whole thing. (I think they're just trying to get my money, they we're gonna charge me almost 3,000! and replace the whole thing!!)

The motor does work, it just looks like one side is getting stuck or something.
Any suggestions?

have someone sit in the car and u watch the roof see if u can spot the mess up from a better view. you might be able to knock it in with wd-40 and some force

I see you rep the 305 too...

I herad there was a recall on the sunroof for the early model tc's. Check and see if that applies to your vehicle.

What dealer is it? What did thay tell you was wrong with your vehicle?

Try going to another dealer if you felt you were being shafted at the one you went to.

When I bought the pervious owner told me he got the new sunroof after the recall.

I went to the Toyota dealership on US1 and somewhere around 112th (i think)

They told me they were gonna replace the motor, which i think is a waste of money because the motor still works...

Ill try the wd40 next and see what happens

Sounds like Kendall Toyota.

Maybe the motor and the track come together as one assembly and cannot be serviced seperaly.

That's how it is on a lot of GM cars. (I'm a technician at a GM dealership). I have replaced several moonroof/sunroofs in the past and it is a considerale amount of labor. That's probaly why they were charging you so much. GL with it.

Try cleaning the track and re-greasing.
