Wouldn't you rather leave it open in winter so the sunlight can warm up the car faster?

not much sun during the winter, plus its amazing how much warmer it gets with those closed or stays a little warmer when those are closed compared to open. you just have to barely open in for a few seconds and you can tell a difference.

Closed at all times, unless:

a) It's one of the 6 times a year I open the sunroof
b) My dogs are in the back seat; they like the view.

Well, here in Texas, at least from what I have noticed, there is still enough sun to warm it during the day. I leave my front on open while I'm at work and my car always feels a bit warmer that the outside when I get in. Once or twice I've even had to turn my heat down because it got too warm.

Clouds don't block 100% of the sunlight. Some light coming through a window is warmer than no light at all.

Most of the time, boy are either open or closed. Sometimes if they're both open and it gets too sunny, I close just the front one because I'm lazy.

I hope you dont have that tint on the actual glass of the sunroof, if so that can cause serious problems.

I don't see how that would cause serious problems. I have dark tint on my sunroof/moonroof.

Also, the person you are responding to is saying they have limo tint on the windows, so that is why they close the sunshades. Having the shades closed makes all the windows look darker.

But like I said, I tinted my sunroof and no problems here.

It is already pretinted and can trap the heat inside the glass causing it to crack.

Well, mine lasted through a long summer with some 115+ degree days and nothing bad happened. Keeps the inside of my car cooler.

I hope it stays ok. My tint guy refused to tint it because of what I explained. He has been tinting forever and knows his stuff.

Hmmm, my tint guy had no problem doing it, and he's a good guy. Show me a cracked sunroof and I will believe you. Besides, our sunroofs are made of tempered glass so they will not crack. This sounds like a myth from back in the days when sunroofs were made of regular glass. I am sure it doesn't apply today.
