Default super lightweight edition tC

I went to my dealership today for service on my tC and talked to my salesman while I waited. We started talking about the RS 1.0 tC and all of the rumors about it and then he told me this. He said that Toyota plans on (I searched a ton for this) releasing a special super lightweight racing edition tC. He said it would be boosted to 240, new body kit, be stripped of all heavy mechanical interiors such as radio equipment , power windows and especially the glass roof and it would be in toyota racing yellow. He said that Toyota/Scion wanted to put the tC into a stock only racing league so they are going to release about 5000 of these so they can race in that league. Just an interesting rumor that I heard and I just hope that it hasn't been posted here before.

Sounds a little far-fetched to me, but heres to hoping!

*Edit*

Also to add, if they do end up doing this, I will be very jealous at R.S 1.0 tC owners

It would be like the Dodge Neon ACR editions then. Right from the factory ready for SCCA.

It sounds like more salesman B.S. to me. And yes he is. Especially for someone who doesn't even own a Scion.

yeah sounds too far fetched. RS 1.0 would probably just contain trd/19"s wheels, suspension, maybe the supercharger and new color debut (yellow or red)

all that stuff you're talkin about would push it to 22 or 23k out the door.

as for weight reduction.... hardly think they will be taking out the radio and the power windows. and especially the glass roof. because if they took it out, what the heck would they replace it with? there is no replacement roof that they designed.

yea, a little bit too far fetched I might add, as well as the 10 others SO FAR, who I believe the same thing...

If Toyota/Scion wanted to come out with an SCCA edition TC, as you like to call it, it would defeat the whole Scion "AFFORDABLITY" aspect.

as for inlcuding a supercharger, and/or yellow or red or lava paint color... I totally think the paint thing is a DEFINATE, but won't "BITE" off the RS1.0 xA or xB's....it'll be a totally new color, MAYBE perhaps a TRUE BLUE, like WRX blue, or maybe even a true green color, who knows...???

But I doubt they'll stick in the same direction of color (warm colors) for they're line of RS edition Scions...MAYBE they might STRAY away to another complimentary color for the tC, since its plenty different from the xA and xB body styles...

As for the Supercharger, that is a possiblity, just take a look at a few of the TRD Tundras and what not that do have a supercharger...it very much could be a possiblity.

BUT for now you guys...

EVERYTHING is up the air... as for an AWD bbX coming from Japan, to the more radical designs of prototype Scions...

And as for this Salesman...I think he's blowing full on smoke/____ into your face...

Unless we hear it from another person who talked to another dealer...I wouldn't go off what ONE salesman said.

And if you'd like, why don't u just send an E-Mail to Scion..??? I talked with the Regional Managers from TRD As well as Scion at Scion night, as I have met the TRD RG once b4. And they spoke nothing of Superchargers from TRD for the xA/xB, no new ideas yet for the tC, as far as a special release goes...and no other important info.
As well as NO new TRD parts for xA's NOR xB's, in the near future. The Scion Rep also told me, to expect the unexpected as well as expect the Expected... What that means...who knows...lol

Who knows...he was probably blowing smoke up my ___ too! lol

Well, later, and I SURE hope they come out with SCCA versions of Scions...

THAT would totally change FACE for Scion... and would make hondas owners give more respect to us Scion lovers ;)

LATE.

why would removing power windows, glass roof, radio increase the price, shouldn't the price decrease? Only thing adding cost would be supercharger.

If they really did that (and I highly doubt it) I would trade in my car for it in a second.

It certainly could be done, nothing mentioned is impossible, but I'm not holding my breath.

because the reason the tc's are so freaking cheap right now is that they are mass produced mono-spec. Adding another production line with significantly different options would increase costs.

Im still a little :? about cost going up. It could still be done on the same line. They just change some things around & like ever 1 out of 100 cars would only have the seats & dash parts put in, along with the glass & a weld on roof pannel. No interior pannels of any kind would be put into the car, no sound deadner, just the driver seat, Dash & gauges. Now this would be for a SCCA only model, not a RS or anything.

My salesperson mentioned something about a hard top tC coming in the future as well. He didn't go into all the other details though.

Scion is kicking around 2 or 3 ideas right now concerning the RS tC. I have heard some interesting proposals and completed a short survey with different ideas. I am going to hold my tongue at this point but there are definetly plans for more factory power than the bolt on s/c alone.

Scion's "affordabilty aspect" would not be defeated!! If you compare this supposed "SCCA tC" to the RSX type S and the hopped up neon etc... then it will still offer the best bang for the buck. Affordability is a relative term.

The tC is sposed to be the most expensive Scion, if they developed another type of tC the price couldn't be any higher then the tC at present.

Plus, this would ____ me off if they did this, making a super light weight version of the tC....since our car weighs so damned much. I'd prefer the light weight car, I personally don't care for any features in my car, my last vehicle had none...

There are quite a few rumors going around. I do know from a highly credible source that Scion does have racing intentions with the tC. The idea of a drag car, an SCCA rally car (already seen in mock ups and photos) and a quite feasibly a speed challenge car (to take the fight directly to Acura and Mazda, and Honda), are being considered. A limited run tC with less-not exactly light-weight is a posibility. The roof is cool but comprimises structural rigidity, specially in racing applications. The rumor also stated reductions in prices for a more "stripped/competition styled" tC. And by the way the staff here at Suburban Scion does participate in autocrosses and private track days.-I hope this will prove that this isnt typical sales person BS.-You can expect to see a bit more from the tC. I'm pretty sure they will have a competition version of a tC, when is the bigger question.

removing the power windows, power locks, and the radio? how much weight would that really save? remove the ac and the glass roof, that would make it lighter.....oh, and all the sound deading stuff.... i think that would make it even more like a civic. it would basically be a corolla ce, but worse. and btw, you can get a supercharger for the 1.8L. dunno, i wouldn't be as excited as you guys about it. but, then again, i don't drive a tC, so maybe my vote doesn't count

I dont drive one either. The thing to look at. TRD S/C with a weight reduction of say just 200lbs. You would now have a car with a est: 200hp & 2,700Lbs for a power to weight of 13.5 compared to the stock 18.125.
