So, I guess I forgot to shift out of 4th into 5th while on the highway (I had to slow down and drive in 4th cuz of traffic, then accelerated again, but I guess I didn't hear/feel that I needed to shift--darned cabin is so quiet! hehe) and didn't realize for another 4 minutes that I had been doing 80mph in 4th gear--I believe it was between 4k-5k, I don't remember.

Anyway, do you think I could have messed something up by sustaining that speed in 4th? I dunno...

 

not really. the engine at those RPMs up until the redline is designed to take that kind of abuse.

and if you really want any kind of acceleration on the highway, you'll have to take 3rd into 70!

I'm not flaming on you :lyrictenor1: but there are sooooo many people out there that worry about the smallest things.....and I understand that he was just asking a question...but I got this vision of some person in the same situation simply freaking out because of holding the rpm's high on accident.....thinking they messed something up.....IMO.....there are alot of people out there that could used a Valium or 2 a day.....but it's the crazy drug addicts that ruin it for everyone else.....some people just need to learn some self control....and others just need to sit back and relax........sorry....just venting.....a little ____ed right now...

oh.....and BTW.....i ONLY have 4 gears.......automatic......yeah they're longer...but you didn't hurt anything....

 

I do 4k in 5h gear at times. Florida is toof fast

 

Yeah no worries...my worries stem from a combination of being mechanically uninclined (for the most part) and being quite a paranoid/obsessive person. Hopefully you can see why this accounts for why I was worried.

what about stalling you car at idle...and feels like some car hit you from behind?...does that hurt the car?
