Default Synthetic Oil?

:?: i have had one oil change on my car at 2,500 miles it now has about 2,700
i have always been a sythetic oil user and will be using syn. on my tC,

my Q. is what is a "safe" amount of miles to start
i had a few friends say they had problems with putting syn. oil in before the rings and everything were seated.
im sure my car is broke in but should i wait til i have 10,000 miles like i was told or is that bull ____?

oh almost forgot i searched and did not see this!

I went with Castrol Syntec on my first oil change and had no problems. In fact my gas mileage went up. The engine now runs at a lower RPM to get the same speed when driving down the road.

I remember a discussion about breaking in an engine and types of oil(conventional v synthetic) not too long ago. It was great, guys who had rebuilt/tuned engines were arguing with a guy who was a chemical engineer with a petroleum company. Wonder if this topic will turn into the same.

i've heard once you go synthetic, you shoulden't/can't go back to regular oil? is this at all true?

Okay, along this same topic. For those of you that use synthetic oil like Mobil 1, do you do your own oil changes? If not, how confident are you that when a mechanic dissapears with your car and your expensive oil, that he's actually putting that oil in your car and not switching it for the shop 10W 30? I'd like to think that most people are honest and wouldn't do that, but I'm also not naive.

youve got a strong point, about stealing it usually i do my own oil changes but not for another year, when i have too.
may be you caould act stupid and ask if you can watch him, just so you know where the oil goes in case you have to do it
