taking the dash apart on a TC
anyone know how to take the dashboard panels off a TC? i pulled on them a little, and they moved, but i was afraid i'd break em.
right now i basically just want to get the side panels off so that i can figure out a way to thread some wires into that little open compartment thing underneath the fan controls. i want to bring some power wires through that so i can add a brighter LED light to the back of the compartment and hardwire my satellite radio directly to the fuse box.
eventually i'd like to be able to get to the shifter and parking break too so i can replace those, but that's a later mod.
anyone take the dash apart yet?

When I had an alarm and system put in, they removed my dash. The whole thing is one giant piece. I believe he started by removing panels from under the wheel, then just popped the whole thing off. Everything is cheap snap-on plastic technology, so it can make you a little nervous to disassemble, but with a little patience and pressure, it should come apart.
that does make me nervous... i plan on getting in there and playing around next nice day out. I absolutely hate doing things without instructions because i ALWAYS find a way to break something. and i'm not accident prone, clumbsy, or plain ignorant... just unlucky (: anyways, i'll take pics if i do it... so you'll all have a good "What to do" or at very worst a good "What NOT to do" for the dashboard.
this has been covered before.. i think i remember posting something on how to do this ona previous thread, but the search feature on this site sucks so here ya go
To remove the center console, you must remove the part that surrounds the shifter, pull up and towards the back of the car on that part to remove it. that part takes some force to rip out. After you pull that out, you can pull out the main part of the center dash, grab the whole thing by the sides and pull out, start from the top and slowly work your way down, do it slowly until it just comes off. after that, it should be self-explanitory
This is a very simple process and it's not likely you will break and clips or brackets if you do it slowly. I can post pics if you are still confused. I pull apart my dash all the time, i did it while i was driving today. My girlfriend got mad and threw a quarter into my center air vents. Ebonyisland is right, practically this entire car is made out of snap together plastic, i've practically pulled apart the entire car to get rid of rattling.
