It's part of an automatic transmission that allows the engine to decouple from the rest of the drivetrain at slow speeds, eliminating the need for a clutch. Second, the slip that’s built into the converter not only lets the engine rev immediately into its powerband, it also allows this slipping action to multiply the engine’s torque. This explains the abnormally sky-high torque curves often generated by an auto trans car on a chassis dyno. So even though many of our favorite slush boxes only have four or five forward gears, the converter adds some effective gear multiplication to get the car out of the hole faster.

I call BS on these ETs if your car is an auto. Your 60ft is hurting. Walking a 2nd gen Rx7 (non turbo) and a V6 Mustang isnt a great accomplishment by any means either. both of those cars run mid- high 16s...

Oh, I see that the mod deleted my post...maybe my language was a little too much for the forum...

I'll clean it up.

What's with the attitude? I just asked a simple question, never did I say "Dude, you're a liar." Where do you get "so ther goes ur mid-high 16- timing"? I have never said anything about times.

Dude, he was talking to the other guy (BrianXB). Apperently he's the one who doesn't believe the times....I wanna see his xB times tho

On another note, geez what's up with everyone. Seems like everyone has something up their ___ lately. This is supposed to be a loving nurturing community damnit! (Yes I know I am a hypocrite )

1. I did not buy my xB to drag race it because:
a. Im not a moron- its an xB.
b. I grew bored of drag racing.
2. You can get off of your soapbox. Your car is not fast by any means when it comes to sport compact drag racing. This is reality. Hell, my last car wasnt even that competitive, but you know what? It wouldve blown your doors off. - 2002 Celica GTS I/E, 01 GTS ECM- 14.4 @ 97mph. The car was full interior and loaded with factory options that made it the heaviest GTS availible and you would see the taillights. The day you can keep up with ETs like that is a day when you can start feeling competitive- aka - when you attend an NHRA event you don have to run in the ET class because your car is slow. Dont challenge me when it comes to knowledge of drag racing or cars in general because Ive probably forgotten more than youll ever know. Anyone who knows me will tell you this.
3. I can drive. In fact I can drive circles around you. A 2.4 60ft is horrible. Ive consistently pulled low 2.1 60 fts on street tires day in and day out on in all the FWD cars Ive owned. So once again, dont open your mouth up unless you can back it up.
4. Speaking of backing it up, Eric asked you for a timeslip and you get all ____y? Hmm sounds fishy to me... Prove your times. Thats all he asked.

(Moderators- Im not trying to flame this poor uneducated kid. Im just setting him straight. I typed this post in calm manner, it is not mean to be defensive in tone. It is a civil debate between myself and him.)
