Default tC Auto Start DEI, Without leaving key in bypasser model

Hey guys, I know there is a immobilizer chip in our key. But I want to Auto Start my car, without leaving a key in the bypass model where a thief can find it and start my car. I was wondering, can we purchase a uncut key and leave it in the bypass model and it will auto start? Or can we cut our valet key in a way, where if a theif finds it the car wont start if he stick the key in the ignition and it will auto start even when the key is cutted. Thanks! I'm sure a lot of people is wondering as well.

This is all I know about general systems. The computer in our car remembers the chip. It can store up to 4 key chips, so from factory it remembers 3, the two that control the doors unlock ect., and the valet. When they do the autostart thingy all they are using it for is to fool the computer into thinking that the acceptable key is in the ignition and turning the car on, when in fact it just in their device and its reading the chips code. So as for getting and uncut key and programming the computer to recognize it, I actually beleieve that could work. B/C as far as I know you cant start the car with an uncut key...but as long as the computer knows its there in the autostart device it will still grant access to the immoblizer. Unless they actually do go on "teeth" patters on the key as well, but from what I've been told its just the chip. This is just my .02 on it, someone with way more experience PLEASE correct me if im wrong. *WATCHING* 0.0

This seller on eBay, claims this key will work for a 05-06 Scion tC, if its programmed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-T...QQcmdZViewItem

So Basically it will work for a 07 as well, since they have the same chip. And I'm just wondering would this uncut key work for our bypass model if its programmed "uncut" in our ignition.

See thats the part i'm really not sure of. I dont know if the uncut key would even fit in the ignition as I've never had to try that. If it does then I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Just use the valet key and grind the key teeth down if your so worried. Seriously, though, as an installer, if someone breaks into your car and has the time to dig into the underdash, unscrew 4 screws and remove the key, and start the car with it, then let them have it. This is all assuming they know the key is hidden in a black box that is usually hidden under the dash. I wouldn't worry about it, personally.

Yeah I would have to agree. I wouldn't worry about it. If someone wants your car they can get it. I will be installing an autostart this spring. I will try and post an update on this thread once it is complete.

I agree on your statement. And the immobilizer system relies solely on the chip code and not on the key cut pattern. To satisfy everyones curiousity, it's safe say that you can use a uncut transponder key for the auto remote starter system. You just have to go to the dealership and request for the valet key to be programmed uncut. They have the special tool which registers the additional chip key. Although, they may give you a hassle about it because they are probably not sure if it can be programmed uncut. They don't know because they have not tried it but I'm a toyota tech and I've tried it and it can be programmed without it cut.

Their process for programming the chip key is simple. All they need is a registered "Master Key" (not the valet key) to begin registering additional chip keys. It's also a good idea to bring along the key ID number tag when requesting additional keys.
