tC caught fire!!!
Ok so I was driving yesterday on the highway when my 2005 tC randomly started smoking. I pulled over and within 2 minutes the car was fully in flames. I have done really no modding to the car. Anything that was done was done when I got the car through Toyota themselves. I was wondering if this is something that is a problem with these cars or what. Also people told me I can go after Toyota about this. Can I? I don't have full coverage on the car so it sucks. Something obviously went seriously wrong here. Would I be able to go after Toyota to get them to pay for this?
My first question is why don't you have full coverage?
And what exactly would you go after Toyota for? As far as I know this is not even close to a widespread issue at all. As for something going "seriously wrong" ... what went wrong? That is, do you know yet what caused the fire yet? Everyone wants to just say "sue them" and try to get money from it.
Crappy thing is that ____ happens. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I don't have full coverage because I can't afford it. I got cut back at my job a few months ago. I don't have a lot of money and I was actually trying to sell the car. I have no idea what caused the fire as this happened yesterday evening. So your saying there is nothing Toyota can do about this??
Well, if it looked like a fuel leak or faulty wiring started it, then the car should have been under warranty (if it had less than 36000 for bumper to bumper), so you may have some hope there.

He dropped the insurance after he bought the car. Eventually they would have caught up to him.. and I am not sure that they cant seek legal recourse against him now when they find out about it. That is part of the contract of buying, and he breached it. However, under the circumstances, they may not press the matter if he can pay off the car or if toyota covers it under warranty.
Most times car fires are started the the wiring malfunctioning. Whether thats from the manufacturer or from doing your own modding or other cases. It does happens and it sure does suck. I would talk with the dealorship and see if there is anything they can do.
that sucks, any pics, when u say "fully lit in flames" you mean the whole car? weve seen a headlight from someone on here melted because of a small fire caused by jumping cables, but never anything like this! pics please
my friends car started on fire because where his headers meet the block rotted away and i guess the exhaust flame started oil on fire that was dripping down from the top of the block
did you notice anyone with a bazooka aimed at you?

he might be able to have his dealer cover it or whichever dealer he brought his car to...I had a friend of mine who had an acura, took it into his dealer for an oil change and they did something wrong can't remember wat is was same setup he was driving out from the dealer nd it caught fire so it may not be toyotas fault it may b the dealers
i guess if he had that fire extinguisher that the other guy in that other topic was asking about maybe he coulda put it out huh? so everyone who hated on that guy for wanting one can maybe now see why you might want one??
I would think that its a warrenty issue, not insurance. If your just driving down the road in your un-modded car, and the damn thing catches on fire, it would be a manufactured defect. Definatly go after toyota. You might have to spend some money to get someone to inspect what caused the fire, but if it is in fact their fault you might be able to get that back, or sue for it.
that pic is what it looks like a brand new car. it has temps. kinda creepy looking too.
i myself came back from a 400 mile trip still under 1200 miles. looking at this makes me think that that could happen to me..
