tC CF hoods - who makes the best?
I got my hood from www.showstoppersusa.com for the $450 price. you can check my profile for for a picture (not the best pic). Oh, it's a Seibon hood.
It came with the pre-molded nozzle holes but you might have to do a little modding because the holes are a little smaller than the nozzles.
Side gaps are kind of noticable but all in all the hood looks very nice!!

CF material sucks for every day use... you guys wait 5 years and watch the amount of fade these hoods get... I have a 99 gsxf that has carbon body work... and its semi faded. My bike stays garaged, but when I was at work (at a bank) it sat in the sun for about 7 hours a day...
Once the CF is faded, I have found NO way of removing it. Also water spots will burn fade holes into the top CF layer when it rains, then the sun hits it (like a magnifying glass)

before ordering, i had it down to VIS and Seibon. it was a very difficult decision for myself, but ended up going w/ Seibon and don't regret a thing. if you go with any, buy it from www.showstoppersusa.com. FREE shipping and $450 for either the VIS or Seibon.
i'll try to take pics when i get a chance.

Yeah I was kinda wondering about that, I was gonna get a c/f hood but I remembered about that blasted yellowing affect. I really don't think that a good clear coat would do much for it because the c/f is seen through the clear coat and the sun is getting to it. no mater what the sun still gets to it, in turn causes fading. (unless they changed something in the material to stop this) It's a shame. C/f looks good but looks like crap down the road. and I'm begging someone to prove me wrong, I really want a c/f hood myself. I just don't want to regret it down the road.
How can anyone prove you wrong?
I've got CF parts on my motorcycles, and they still look great.
I keep it covered and/or garaged when not riding, but unless your car sits in the sun all day, every day, it's fine - ASSUMING you don't buy crap.
That's why I'm asking here for data.

Back in the day, they sent out carbon fiber hoods without clear. Anymore they use a high quality UV blocking clearcoat. It would take a long while for it to fade. Im sure most people dont even have there car or that hood long enough to see a change.
I am quite a noob coming to CF hoods...but cant you paint them to match the color of your car? I have a 2007 Silver TC...and I would rather prefer it to match the color of my car...I dunno..kinda undecided on that one....
The hood at showstopperusa has a scoop in it...anyone have that hood? Is it functional?
Also there is a weight saving to be had from switching to a CF hood isnt it? While on the same CF topic anyone have experience with going to a CF trunk? Any disadvantages to that?

Not sure why you'd dump money on CF just to paint it unless you're a serious racer?
The point is that it looks so cool and different.
You COULD paint it, but why?
That's like puttin' a bag over Angelina Jolie's head!
I believe there are fiberglass models for that purpose.

I thought every c/f hood for tC out there except kaminari hood is not 100% c/f. it's just c/f wrap over the fiberglass material or something. So I thought they weigh almost same as a stock hood. Someone please correct it if I'm wrong.
