Default tC Cruise Control

I know its been said before (by me) but i think it warrants another mention. IMO the tC's cruise control system is the BEST aspect of the car.
I mean, we're talking Lexus quality system here, in fact, i believe (correct me if wrong) that the new Lexus' use the same or a similar cruise control system as found in the tC.

For long hi way trips, theres Nothing like setting the cruise control and sitting back and enjoying the ride. Slow down or speed up in 1 mph increments with the flick of a lever...hold it up/down for a more dramatic speed change.
I love how you can get on the gas to pass, and then just get off it and the cruise control returns to your "set" speed". Its like driving an automatic!

Its just great. Despite all the other things i'm unhappy with about the car, this feature makes me glad i bought it.

Well i know i didn't have it on my 93 mazda protege 5 speed. So its a BIG step up for me.

Makes hi way driving so effortless. ofcourse, you have to downshift to 4 to blow away honda boys every once in a while too.

I have no clue how to use mine. This is probably due to the fact that I never do extended-period highway driving.

If you do find your way to using your cruise control, it's pretty easy. I figured it out real quick in the middle of a 26 hour day at 3am, it's very intuitive. Cruise control on drive-by-wire system is scary smooth.

just like my 97 corolla's cruise control. i hardly ever use it, because i'm either going too fast or too slow on the highway and i have to pass people, slow down for emergencies, etc

I love cruise control, especially since I commute to school everyday during non rush-hour traffic. It saves me so much gas.

i would imagine we probably get some ridiculous mpgs on hiway cruise [control] driving. Probably drive across the country on 1 tank! ;)

but yeah, def not useful during hiway traffic or sub-50 mph situations.

scary smooth is a good way to describe it. It just feels "Lexus" quality. Like, better than any other single aspect of the car. The motor, stereo, sunroof, pwr stuff, wheels..i'd be most happy with the cruise control.

It really isnt any smoother than my 96 saturn. Most work identically. The older cars had more noticeable speed adjusting going on, but in the last 10 years or so I havent really noticed any difference in any of them. But I guess if you arent used to cruise, it is a nice luxury

As far as mileage, it helps, since you are holding a constant speed, but I wouldnt go as far as to say crazy mileage or anything I use it everytime I drive it home to visit (650 miles each way). I hit 30 - 31 mpg each trip.

I prefer Honda's cruise control setup better, with buttons on the wheel.

Thanks God. So tell me, how does it feel to know more than anyone else in the world? Because seriously, everytime you post, thats the impression that you give. Maybe its because you live way out in the middle of nowhere, you're kindof removed from normal society, and your ego has gotten the best of you.

You may be a smart guy, but you could probably do a better job of expressing your "wisdom" without coming across as such a "knowitall". Cuz frankly...i think you're full of hot air 99% of the time. You just have the answer to EVERYTHING.

Not smoother than a 96 SATURN! You should be embarassed from even mentioning you drove a saturn...let alone comparing the tc's cruise control system with a 10 year old saturn's....

Its has NOTHING to do with whether or not you are "USED to" cruise control...its a nIce luxury PERIOD.

i get roughly 30 mpgs in city/daily driving. So i'd imagine i'd get some better Mpgs cruising at 60 @ 3000 rpms (or whatever)

I didn't think that I would like the way the cruise was set up on the tC's when I bought it. I didn't like the "stalk" sticking down. Now, I love it and think it is the best configuration in a car ever. I hate buttons on the steering wheel, be it cruise control or radio. I like a clean steering wheel.

^^ Calm down son (2Lotc)

I have never proclaimed to know it all, and most on here share knowledge with me and get along with me just fine. You are the one that has popped up on my posts trying to "correct" me or tell me something with laughable comments. I was just making a joke about how old this type of system is, it is not exactly some new revolutionary thing

Sorry, I am happy to have driven that saturn, and still own it. It is THE most reliable car I have ever driven, and has outlasted two of my friends hondas by a long shot. Better mileage, and has gone 170k with NO issues outside of normal maintenance items. And when it is snowing like hell, my tC is parked in a heated garage while my plastic bodied (no rust) saturn is taking me back and forth to work. But I guess I should be "embarrased" huh?

The reason I mention it is because the cruise in that car works EXACTLY like my tC's does, just as smoothly. Hate to break it to you, but cruise control isnt a NEW LUXURY. And smooth working cruise control has been around probably most of your life. You act like you have driven one model of car in your whole life and make comments like you know everything. Take it somewhere else.

Yeah, this city of over 2 million people, low pollution, low crime, and good economy is really out in the middle of nowhere

Stop spouting off nonsense and go home. I have never seen ONE of your posts that added any value at all.
